No, I've used kubuntu now for many years. It has a similar level of stability and quality as ubuntu, but I prefer the kde desktop.

I mostly agree, but I think c++ is a special case. It's a very demanding language and without using several books I'm not sure if you can make much progress learning it. It's because the language is so old and there are way too many people who know "how to do things in c++" but they don't...
