Never saw zidane do that? Or many great legands in the game....cristiano is a great player but he's nowhere near zidane's class or maradona's genious, The guy should realize that he's another great player (same level of figo but nothing more seriously).

He's marketed more because he's a man united player and i really really think that if he ever played in another team he won't get the publicity that he gets right now. I've seen ronaldo (brazilian) in he's day's with barca and he's waaaay bitter than cristiano i swear to god am not biased or anything but i really don't see him as the best even today (messi IMO is a class above him).........
He's not just another good player. He's one of the ten all time best.

Sports media and fans have this bullshit desire to believe they are uniquely positioned in space and time to have witnessed the divine. It's always the case. And as much as that gets pumped, it also pumps a huge sense among others that they are being sold to -- to the point that they hate the player and look for any excuse to discount his abilities just to prove their annoying asses ever so wrong.

I know. I do this to Tiger Woods all the time. I would ram my foot up his ass and tell him to get out of my sports pages if given the opportunity. But hey -- a lot of people love the guy.

As for Ronaldo and his "legacy", legacy comes in the future -- not in the present. You help create it in the present. But the true evaluation of it has to come when the time has come and gone. Otherwise the hype machine is too great and there's too much bullcrap in the air to sensibly judge much of anything.

Ronaldo has gotten over a major hump this year. Not only has he dominated the EPL again, but he performed well on a club that won the CL. And he's so far not doing too shabbily on the NT in a big tournament now. All despite the claims that he never shows up in big games -- even if the guy is still only 23, making it, IMO still a bit early to really judge that sort of thing. But it's also too early to judge whether he's the best at anything.

Give us 10 more years of quality football, Ronaldo, and then we can think about how you might hold up to the likes of Zidane, etc. Until then, you're still a rookie in this category.

You are right, zidane never did any of that. That’s what makes him greatness and IMO the G.O.A.T.

But C-Ron isn't zidane, nor will he ever be. He is just a 23 yr old phenom who will only get better. That’s the scary part about all of this. We are all young and cocky in our own way and how do you expect him to be any different. He does have mad skills, he does make crazy paper, and he makes you hate him everytime he plays cuz he's that good. Not to mention all the hype surrounding him from anyone and everyone, how do you expect him not to be the way he is?

He's hyped because he's a man united player (beckham was hyped before him for merchandising purpose mainly and cantona before those two "its just the way man united marketing machine work").

Man united r currently marketing themselves as the best club in the world, so to be the best u must have the best player in the world and they've work so hard on creating that image of him and now they'll desperately trying to keep him in their club. He's a quality player but not a phenom (not even close to this word).

The problem is, whenever anyone argues that this guy is not exceptionally talented people think that we just hate the guy (i can care less about him or about man united to say the truth) but thats really what i think about him.

I have argued with my friends before about certain players and i was right in many occations (ex. i said that barca wasted their money signing henry "when everyone said that he'll be an instant hit there" but he couldn't impress much this season).

I can bet that if c.ronaldo ever moved to madrid (perhaps this summer) he won't be able to repeat he's performance with man united this season and if he did repeat he's perfomnce then i'll admit here that i know nothing about this game and i'll appologize to u or any of he's fans here.....deal ;)

Some people are just pissed that Zlatan scored & DP didn't. How else would you explain the trolling in this thread.

 yeah I'm very pissed. I'll also take pills tonight to be able to sleep considering that Zlatan scored his 2nd goal and Del Piero didn't. You can't imagine how pissed I am.
