George Costanza is a whiner. With all other aspects of his character included, the one characteristic that stands out is whining.Self loathing,cynicism,despair..whining whining whining.

And yes,i know you dont agree with it.And you arent the first Seinfeld fan who says so.

That's because the whole genius of Seinfeld is the character George Costanza. It's like a double act with one guy who's crazy and obsessive and one guy who's straight, the classic old format. Larry David who wrote the show with Jerry isn't in the show, but his whole personality (along with Jerry's) is exactly what makes the show what it is. And that personality is George. So if you say you love Jerry and hate George that doesn't make a lot of sense, it's like saying I love Batman but I hate Robin. And it's Jerry and George's strange and nonsensical conversations that give the show substance.

So if you hate George then I wonder if you like Seinfeld at all. Perhaps the only thing you like about it is Kramer, who does a lot of physical comedy that's very simple and everyone will laugh at.

:agree: George was the main man in Seinfeld...whilst Jerry was the regular guy and Kramer the clown, George was the character who a lot of the situations were based on

    Well i do hate Robin:D

And ofcourse George is a pivotal character of the show.Seinfeld wouldnt be Seinfeld without him.Ive already said that i found his character funny in the start, but then it started irritating me.And its weird how you can go all 'This is right and that is wrong'..all because of what your opinion of something is.And i can hate or like any character. Its not about what makes sense to Martin, its about what any person prefers. It might not make a lot of sense to you as you're a massive George fan,but it would to someone like me,who isnt a fan of George Costanza.

George Constanza is one of the most loveable characters in TV history. Second only to Al Bundy.

That's because the show is based on a certain premise. And if you say you don't like that then it's hard to imagine how you could like it at all. Not impossible, but not very plausible either.

To me George is the most authentic and lifelike character on Seinfeld. A caricature, of course, but real.

Joey's character was immense.I always like Chandler's character most though.I think he some of best lines ive heard on Sitcom characters.
Yeah, Matthew Perry is greatness. Especially in The Whole 10 Yards, but let's not talk about that. :D

    My favourite Joey moment:

You're grouping anger, deceit, cynicism, selfishness, joy, despair, hate, vengefulness under "whining". I guess that must make sense to you somehow.
    Indeed...

So nonsensical take of George, who is the core of the whole frigging Seinfeld sitcom. The series wouldnt be two notches above most sitcoms if it wasnt for that character.

Like, when he was stressing on those who occupied the pay phone in the chinese restuarant, was he just whining? A pay phone he urgently wanted to use to call his girlfriend, who he left hanging abruptly while into foreplay...because while kissing here he suddenly wanted to take a dump, but fretted over he cant do it at her apartment because his somehow he thought his world would crumble if she smelled the aftermaths of it. So he decided its more suitful for now to just leave her and run away in the middle of foreplay.

The kind of complex show of reactions and emotions in one simple episode like that, shows how he REALLY isnt someone to chalk down under just whining. Exaggerated for emphasize at times, but he is by far one of the most authentic and quite real of characters.

I was thinking after I read the thread title that if no one mentioned George Costanza then I would have been pissed. George is by far my favorite character of all time. No one comes close. Think of every bad quality a human being can have and you'll find it in George. GEORGE IS GETTING ANGRY!!
Best character on TV today has to be Ari Gold from Entourage.
