    The concept of being bored at two different places does not in any way alter the degree of boredorm.
    Words of wisdom :D

    Hayley, they know how to mess with your wallpaper but they can't use profiles? Hm... faking, anyone? :D

    Oh no, Mac alert :eek:;) Why don't you upgrade your Mac to linux ;):cool: There are even themes for Linux that makes your desktop look exactly like Mac OS X, so in fact it would look the same, only work better ;):D

    Nina, that's original... overdoing it are you? :D

    alex, to be honest if u see pictures of both os (windows and mac) you have to admit which os is more beautiful looking...
    + os x is unix-based - i've used it for about 1 year now and my whole com crashed a single-time.... - there are many open source apps available... just think of the "mplayer" (i've seen that u use the same app for linux)....
    + os x easily won against windows in an independent test....

    itunes (app to manage music, that works perfectly together with an ipod --> portable music player with up to 20gb --> i have one!!), imovie (microsoft copied the app and named it "moviemaker"), ical, ipicture, isync are just some of apple's genius free applications....
    with final cut pro, the best video-cut app is available for mac and for no other os...
    apple sets new trends, while microsoft just steals them...
    who got the first wysiwyg os?? it was apple!!!
    and who stole it?? it was microsoft
    apple accused them of stealing their codes, but microsoft was already able to afford the better lawyers....
    WINDOWS IS NOT THE ANSWER
    WINDOWS IS THE QUESTION
    NO IS THE ANSWER!!!!

    regarding the hardware mac's are on the same level as pcs...
    and the new powermacs even beat the latest pcs (with about 3ghz)
    and with the new os (panther - will be released somewhere in june) and the new processors (don't know the release-date) they will be even better and faster...

    and take a short tour through apple.com - u won't regret it... i don't think any pc-notebook is only half as beautiful as the apple powerbook...

    i'm looking forward to ur reply, alex...

    Hey, don't look at me, my days of advocating Windows are over. I'm merging to Linux, still need Win for a few things like Photoshop though.

    As for the Mac, I think it's a piece of junk but everyone's entitled to their opinion :D That's why I encourage you to wipe your drives from the Apple nonsense and install Linux :cool:

    But Apple vs M$ I have no illusions as to M$ superiority :p

    On Linux, Intel beats Alpha cause the market is infinitely bigger, drivers are better supported etc. But if you got a really powerful Mac, you sure will benefit from that in Linux.

    Mac's beat Pc's? Gimme a break. They're more powerful cause Apple cater to a niche market of users who need 3GHz hardware while the rest of us stick to 2GHz, but the price gap in no justifies the choice of a faster system, Mac isn't cheap, the PC platform is. ;)

    Erik,

    "Ensanguining the skies" - A.E.Housman

    number 16 from "m,ore poems"

    How clear, how lovely bright,
    How beautiful to sight
    Those beams of morning play;
    How heaven laughs out with glee
    Where, like a bird set free,
    Up from the eastern sea
    Soars the delightful day.

    To-day I shall be strong,
    No more shall yield to wrong,
    Shall squander life no more;
    Days lost, I know not how,
    I shall retrieve them now;
    Now I shall keep the vow
    I never kept before.

    Ensanguining the skies
    How heavily it dies
    Into the west away;
    Past touch and sight and sound
    Not further to be found,
    How hopeless under ground
    Falls the remorseful day.

    osx has all the pros of linux as it's based on unix... + it doesn't have the cons of linux, cause u're able to use the best apps...
    about the price: the prices of macs aren't that high anymore...
    regarding the prices of the latest coms they're priced 999€+...
    and if u don't need such a powerfull mac u can even buy older ones....
    it's an illusion that pcs are cheaper... i pay about 1500 for an imac with flat-screen, good graphic-card,ethernet, modem, video-ram, blootooth, airport (wireless LAN) + a dvd-bruner (!!! if u buy a dvd-burner it costs about 300€).... and plz regard that picture - isn't it beautiful??
    (--> plz tell me what a pc, with the same data-sheet costs ca!!!)
    +u get loads of apps for free for which u have to pay in windows.... forget about word.. it's bullshit anyway... excel is ok... but use keynote instead of powerpoint and so on....
    use safari, the best browser ever, to easy navigate through the internet using "snap back" buttons... benefit from open-source programs...
    and it's prooved (!!!) that u'll face much more problems with your pc and that you can use your mac ages longer...
    for example: 4 years ago i bought a new mac and a new pc at the same time... i spent 3,500 ATS on the pc, while i spent about 5,500... but i've to add that i bought a sony 21zoll screen for my mac which costed a lot...
    meanwhile my pc is already an oldtimer... u can use it fine for excel and all that shit, but forget the rest... my mac is still in good shape... i can still use all my progs very very well... i bought a new 120 gb firewire drive and some mb-ram, but that's all....
    and don't remind me how often i've taken my pc to the computershop to repair it... not just a single time... and repairing a computer costs about 75€ an hour + hardware reparing costs...
    that soon adds up and so the (meanwhile non existing) price gap is relative...
    do u know the "switcher"-ads... i know the cases described probably aren't true, but it is true that everybody switching to a mac is fascinated... it's not just for pro-users anymore...
