Chiellini Calls For Alonso Signing
The Bianconeri’s transfer campaign has not impressed the majority of supporters, with Amauri, Christian Poulsen, Olof Mellberg, Dario Knezevic and Albin Ekdal failing to set pulses racing.
The club’s management have announced that it is unlikely that they will be buying anymore outfield players this summer, but Chiellini believes they should reconsider this plan, and has called for the arrival of Xabi Alonso, a player Juve were in negotiations with a few weeks ago.
“There are no doubts over Alonso,” Chiellini told Sky Sport Italia
“He is a great player who could help us. There could be others like him but I’m sure that the club will bring in another great champion to allow us to make the leap of class needed to fight Milan, Inter and Roma.”
Another player Juve were in talks to sign earlier this summer was Dejan Stankovic, and Chiellini would also welcome the Serb, despite his Inter connection that has put off many supporters.
“It’s only natural that Dejan, having played for Inter for so many years, wouldn’t be welcomed at first, but players like him know how to win over fans,” Chiellini explained.
“I don’t know what the club will decide to do, but I know that if Stankovic arrived he would undo all the ill feeling he built up with the Juve fans.”
