Actually I think I understand what he says
part of it I agree part of it I dissagree
you can`t compare Buffon to Xabi Alonso but you can compare how good is Buffon compared to other keepers compared to how good Xabi is compared to other central midfielders
It`s like saying Richards is doing a better job in defence than Xabi Alonso does in midfield this way it is comapable
I agree on those kind of things as it is true
but I disagree on the kind of things like C.Zanetti is better than Xabi Alonso altough I do think C.Zanetti is more effective
Xabi Alonso gives some great passes but those are not passes that leads to goals
those passes are accurate passes that leads to nothing
I watched some youtube moments of him and I must say ok his flank to flank passes are incredibly accurate, ok he knows to do a nice trick BUT does it really matters when you want to see goals???

That is the reason I`m against Xabi Alonso altough if we do sign him I hope he proves me wrong and give lots of assists
Tiago for example is the kind of player which can give lots of assists (altough he seems pretty lost in deffence...) he just needs to find his form

You don't think Alonso's passes amount to anything? The purpose of a flank to flank pass is to switch the focus of the attack and stretch the opposition, which can both lead to goals or at least pressure. He helps keep possession and brings his teammates into the game, another important aspect of a central midfielder.
You can create goals without directly assisting them and Alonso does this.
