Alonso was probably Liverpool's best player the season when they won the Champions League. He was so good that Benitez played Gerrard on the right. I can't understand why a Juve fan wouldn't want to sign him when we so badly need a passing midfielder.
Well, that's right but Mendieta was Valencia's best layer the season they reached the final too.
And when Lazio bought him he wouldn't perform

My god,in all my conversations with people who live out of football game I never heard that someone compared a defensive midfielder and a winger!

Other than that....do you watch premiership? Did you ever saw Arteta performing in Everton shirt?
arteta has been playing on the right this year but he is NOT a winger, he is a playmaker at heart, that is the position he covets but has been doing well out wide for everton but to call him a winger is just wrong

hmmmm......salas was a great player yet when he signed him he turned into a fat lazy cunt who could not hit a barn door with a banjo
gilardino was a goalscoring machine and went to milan and became the anti-inzaghi
cannavaro was finished as a footballer when he came to juve and went on to lift a world cup

there is a degree of risk in every transfer but it has nothing to do with nationality and everything to do with mentality, both of the player and his coach. to say no spaniard can do well in italy is a joke, i suppose no brazillian will adapt to the british weather, no brit can adapt to spanish league and no african can adapt to professionalism as well

oh I´m basque and I think that Xabi is not very happy with having to run 13 kilometers up and down and not having one chance to make a pass upwards for the strikers, which is by the way the best think he did in Real Sociedad, the club I support. Don´t you remember us juventini ? champions league 2003? We suffered in dell alpi 4-2. And Darko Kovacevic has been our god for years. Don´t you remember him? Love you italiani.

Yes, I watch EPL a lot and I've seen Arteta play for Everton. He's a very good player, but he would not make it in a big club in my opinion.

EDIT: And as Bozi said, Arteta is not a winger.

good post boz, its not a rule that coz he is a spanish he cant cut it out in italy. xabi is miles ahead both tiago and almiron so i think its a good add to our asquad if we add him its beyond me how people would want some one else.

good clips hope this helps change the minds of the people arguing against him joining us come next season.

Xabi Alonso hardly a regular at Liverpool? Are you sure there isn't another club called Liverpool too? And how can Richards and Lescott be better than Xabi when they play in DIFFERENT positions. That's like saying Buffon is miles better than Xabi although they play in different positions.

About Cigarini: He is talented, but Xabi Alonso is miles ahead of him when it comes to quality.

David Bentley, Arteta, Cahill ?! Are you serious about that.

Zanetti is not better than Xabi, and Nedved and Camoranesi are wingers while Xabi Alonso is a CM. Next time try to pick up better players to compare with Xabi Alonso.

Ps. Can you pass me some of the weed you've been smoking?

I was purely comparing price tags if you had read the article I stated that "yes" they were not midfield players.

I am not saying Xabi is not good so dont get defensive but he is not worth 17 mil pounds you cannot justify it.

I know alot of Liverpool fans that were laughing at this talk.

Cigarini would be half the price of Xabi that was my quote I would rather develop a young player while playing the like of Marchiso etc:

Nedved HAS and CAN play in the middle and I was comparing him when he HAS played in the middle and this is exactly the same story for CAMO who even played their for Italy so you CAN and I WILL compare them.

Arteta would I believe again be cheaper and you are loosing nothing with quality and watch the game mate he has played in the middle MANY times and played awsome.

Bently again has played middle and is a rising star.

Cahill is cheap and does the job but my point is I would rather buy these players to give our youth a chance and try to find the next KAKA then spend alot of money on a guy that you know is OK but doesent have a great deal od scope to improve.

Mate I know alot abouth the game NOT everything and read when I compare cos it wasnt a direct player comaprison it was more money money and youth.
