True. Don't see why are people so obsessed with Grosso? :gsol: He's s great, quality player, experienced, world champion...... :gsol:

He's just an average player on his way down who went famous because of one goal, penalty and few good performances on World Cup. People get so easily fooled by few good performances. TBH, I would be very disappointed if we signed him when there are much better leftbacks available ---> Dossena, Vargas, Lahm for example. I think I would rather let Molinaro and De Ceglie fight it our for that starting spot.
Grosso is miles above of Molinaro.

And we get it. You don't like the Azzurri.

Gather this,he's a Croat, who supports an Italian club, and follows the French NT.

Talk about Globalization.

Coming to Alonso,i love the heading on the last article posted here.'Xabi Set For Alonso Switch' as if we've actually made a solid offer so far.I think our main competition for him would be a Spanish Club.I dont see him moving to another EPL side.Real would worry me.I think they wanted him in the past too.If they move in the picture, then it could be curtains for us.Also, there is no way in hell that we'll get him for 6m only.Liverpool arent that stupid, and Secco isnt that clever.

If Xabi goes anywhere it will be to Spain. Granted, he would help you out greatly. And for 6million I don't see him going anywhere. The guy is big on family and now that he has a kid, he will want to be with them. Sorry guys, it's just not meant to be. If he goes to Italy, I will be surprised.

While i agree that Grosso is light years ahead of Molinaro, i have to agree with Ikoninhosa here. he isnt that great a fullback, no doubting his ability going forward of course, but defensively, he isnt that good. like i said the better wingers of the Ligue have all got the better of him this season, look no further than Lyons match last week against Caen, he got completely ripped apart by Goufran.

On a lighter note. Boumsong played leftback in Lyons last game

It seems that Xabi Alonso is a real target but we need a creative midfielder like Diego and VDV and a great defender like Barzagli or Lucio.

So Amauri and now Xabi Alonso!
What is it with these players that makes so many overrate them? We would have to spend a fortune to get one of those, and we wouldn't even improve our defense.

Xavi Alonso is the better player altough I somewhat don`t rate them both as high as you and the media rate them
maybe it`s because I haven`t seen much of them
