Saying that players have nothing to play for once they win one trophy doesn't make sense though. Xabi hasn't won a league title. The CL is not the end all be all you know. Why has Liverpool been striving for years to win the league then? Because there are other trophies out there. Oh I also seriously doubt he is going to be getting that much higher of a salary once he comes here. You act like that is the only reason in which he is coming here. I'm sure Xabi could care less about the half million difference in his pay check because when you have money adding just a little more really doesn't matter.

How did you feel about Momo's signing? He has won a couple of trophies himself with Valencia and he seemed to be trying real hard so far this season. It is just a naive generalization to put that blanket statement on every player.

Oh and he is not better than Aquilani. I follow Aquilani and I am a big fan of him in general. I just don't know how you can make that statement. Aquilani has the technical ability but he needs more development before he is better than Xabi, imo. We also have a 1% chance of signing him so we shouldn't be turning down other players for him.

You are entitled to your opinion. I respect that but this is a forum. People are allowed to disagree with you especially when you start out by saying "I am glad that that cvnt isn't coming, and those who say they prefer him over Aqui need to get their heads checked."

With that said, I doubt we will get Xabi and if we are its not happening until July after the Euros.
completely and fully agree.

Juve will try hard to seal the deal this week.
As for alternative, according to Tuttosport it's Muntari...

how about him?

i think we should just do everything on the Xabi deal.

Yeah good post Donna, you could shorten the point with two names only: Maldini and Ryan Giggs.

Paolo 7 scudetti and 5 CLs, Giggs 10 EPL titles and 2 CL. And both are still hardheaded and as eager to win. Its the big factor for why they have frigging dozen titles.

In a big Kaka interview I read, in where he keeps saying he has played with world champions and countless of strong willed winners, but that he has never seen anyone be as eager to win as simple challenge in even training as Maldini. Never relaxes, allways as focused and as hungry.

For some reason, Juventinho seems to think the average footballer is like no lifers like Adriano, Coco and such.

I was having a similar argument to this one but on the other end of things, i was defending momo and saying that he is actually one of the best while people were just insulting him along with the board. And i did not generalize i just don't get why would he come here unless it's for the money or that because he won't have a regular place there and both are a bad thing. Sissoko had a battle to fight because he was benched unfairly at Liverpoop and i saw that because i rated him, so i am very far from generalizing actually. I was also saying at the time that we don't need Momo as much as a creative player. But i never said momo was useless as people said back then or questioned his quality in fact i did not just say his class i said he's one of the best. Enough to say that i rate Sissoko much more than Vieira. In Xabi case i honestly don't like the guy and i don't rate him for more than a good player. He's not worth the fuss or the hype and we don't have to buy big names. A super left mid and a defender and 2 more squad players and we will have a super team.

You did not have to go outside, DP would do as a fine example. However i am talking in the case of leaving your long term club that can achieve everything. As i said, why would Maldini for example leave Milan to Man Utd or Real? Because Milan are not capable of winning the league or the CL? come on. It gotta be the cash like Viera and Emerson and only then you know the motivation was lost and don't tell me Vieira and Emerson were good just get a tape of both of them with Roma and Arsenal.

I don't like cold pros (i.e mercenaries), i like players who play with their heart. I don't want someone who will just play, i want someone who believe in the cause or part of it. I want that extra miles from the players and thats part of our character, i don't want Ronaldinho or Ronaldo i want Gattuso, DP, Totti, Buffon, Pirlo and even Kaka people who feel that they owe the club, Mutu had that because we saved his career and Cannavaro also had that because of the same reason because he was suffering in Inter.Nedved, Thuram, Buffon moved to the bigger club to achieve their ambitions. But Liverpool just got out of the Semi final of the CL and Juve just got back from Serie B.

if we get alonso this means that Giovinco will not have any place to play in , IMO we dont need alonso at all , let Giovinco play in midfield as a play maker with zanetti and sissoko , with this we have a perfect midfield.

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is reportedly on the verge of agreeing terms with Juventus, with contract talks scheduled today…

Alonso’s future has been in serious doubt for months following an injury-riddled campaign at Anfield, and the club’s interest in Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry has only fuelled the flames regarding his possible exit.

The Basque playmaker has stated his desire to remain on Merseyside with the rest of Rafael Benitez’s Spanish contingent, as well as close friend and Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta.

The 26-year-old would no doubt consider a return to his homeland, and Real Madrid and Barcelona have expressed interest in the former Real Sociedad man.

But with no solid offer forthcoming from Spain, Juve are the clear favourites to secure Alonso’s signature, his agent Inaki Ibanez declaring recently that the player is tempted by the Old Lady’s advances.

According to the Daily Mail, the Bianconeri are prepared to shell out ₤13.5 million for the Spanish international, who they will offer a five-year deal.

But the Reds are demanding in excess of ₤16 million for their midfield creator, whose potential absence could prove costly early next season while Javier Mascherano and Lucas Leiva are at the Beijing Olympics.
