I'm pretty sad with the final result of the match Ivory Coast - Argentina, but expirience won this game... After watching Ivory Coast tonight I'm thinking that they with a little improvement in the defense and a little more serious attack they can make suprise and go trough group stage.

Yes,that was a scandal...he went home and FIFA didn't allow them to make another change.

The media put him(the player) under the pressure, just as the head coach, for the stupid things:

1-Dusan Petkovic is his son ,so they said it was not a deserved role

2-Vucinic is Montenegrin and this guy is not
Still doesn't have much to do with FIFA. Those are the rules: only injured players can be replaced. Petkovic was never injured. So the Serbians knew what was going to happen if they dismissed him.

Gio I have one question for you: Do you know why petkovic didn't call Pantelic to the team, he really played good for herta and couldn't find out why he is not called to WC ?

to be honest the way game went, i am not very surprised about ivory, as i saw them in the african nations cup and they went to final and i really liked them in that competition, they play nicely and they are a solid team. they are one of those teams i would like to take part in euro tournaments, there they would have more chanses to succeed.

First of all,FIFA needed to let another country to step in ,instead of S&M(the country that doesn't exist anymore)...

UEFA did the same thing 1992...Than ,Yugoslavia was the country with: Dejan Savicevic, Stojkovic,Pancev,Jarni,Prosinecki,Mijatovic,Boban...and other great football players and they won the qualification group, but UEFA disqualified them and placed Denmark(the 3rd country in the group) instead of Yugoslavia...

...you may remember that Denmark won that championship than.....so I would give another team a chance instead of this scandalous S&M team.

Good question goggo,Pantelic really played well this season ,and injured Vucinic is a striker...but Pantelic is injured too, just as Vucinic.

That's a nice, but completely irrelevant story. Fact is that FIFA aren't to blame for the 22 player situation.

And cancelling a country from the World Cup altogether would have caused a major scandal, come on. I think UEFA was also wrong in 1992. If Serbians seem to think this is a scandalous situation, nobody is stopping them from going home.

FIFA's line of thought: they qualified as 'Serbia & Montenegro' so that's how they deserve to play. And why not?

Because the whole story is so damn pathetic.

I think that another country deserved to play instead of the country that doesn't exist.

Imagine that S&M win the competition,hypothetical...which of the 2 countries will be the owner of the trophy?

Excatly it was decided a long time before WC that S&M will play at WC no matter what happen with the country, as it was said they qualifeid as S&M, and they deserve to play as S&M... And I'm maybe sad a little bit with this decision because if S&M failed to go to WC then Bosnia could play instead :D

That's a political thing. It depends on who ends up with the right to claim the history of the shared nation.

The same situation took place when Germany was seperated after WWII. The question was which Germany was going to be the 'real' Germany, entitled to claim German history as its own. The answer turned out to be West-Germany, or the Federal German Republic. The German Democratic Republic (East-Germany) is thus not Germany at all.

Since this question has not yet been answered for Serbia, there's nothing FIFA can do at this point. I assume though that Serbia will be entitled to claim the history of the shared nation as its own, considering it's also entitled to claim the history of what was once "Yugoslavia". But that's speculation.

Gah don't remind me. I've been nervous for weeks and watching Argentina and the Ivory Coast didn't help
I know, the game Argentina-Ivory Coast only showed how dangerous they are.
TBH Erik,I still don't understand why Van Basten didn't call for example Seedorf, Stam...more experienced players ,if you know what I meen.

He did call Stam, but Stam retired and said he didn't want to come back.

Seedorf is a jackass who keeps destroying team morale with his humongous ego. Kluivert is out of shape, Makaay stinks in the national team and Davids is way past his peak. This is the best we got.
