Ive been listening to this for ever. Whats stopping you?
Football hasn't always been of interest to all these other nations until the last few decades. Japan's main sport was baseball, the World Cup in 2002 brought interest in Japan and South Korea of late. Africa got their first World Cup in 2010 and the Middle East in 2022. Such regions have improved significantly in the past 20 years. But remember, they've been up against football nations which are a century old. Give it time, and they probably will. Especially countries such as Japan considering how rich the country is.

People are tired of the same teams progressing all the time.

Pretty natural to root for the underdog. Personally i would rather have a Japanese team filled with hard work and passion than some arrogant Germans, strolling around barely giving a fu#k focusing more on LGTB than playing football
I agree 100%, I like different teams to go through and glad with tonight's results.

But some people seem to be very bitter about Europe, not just tonight and not just about football which seems bizarre to me on a fans forum for a European team.

Europe has one advantage though, which Japan doesn't. There are a lot of young Africans in the richest European countries. These guys have the athleticism, but in Europe they are getting the conditions which they will never get in Africa. Then it's becoming possible to create a team like the French one which won the previous WC.
Even Spain started using these players. There are 3 or 4 in their WC 2022 squad, which never happened before. Italy will slowly add more and more African players. Belgium already has them, as does England. Germany too.
Also, the richest Europeans don't mind getting quality players from Brazil, which is something the Africans and Central American countries cannot afford, while Japan will refuse to do.

The WC in Japan was 2 decades ago. How many Asian nations have reached QFs or SFs since then? There really is no comparison between Europe and Asia or North America, and I dont see much progress. There needs to be consistency, not 1 decent run, then falling into mediocrity over the next few WCs. I dont even care for this shit but its ridiculous to force some agenda.

In all fairness some Europeans can be a bit arrogant about this sort of thing. Which I've never understood. I mean, good for Italy that they have four World Cups, but I'm Belgian. They're not mine because I'm European.

Another advantage is that the toughest leagues are in Europe. Which helps European players develop from the start.

That was always the case, while this situation with the Africans and naturalized South Americans is relatively new and will only strengthen in the future. Hence why I don't expect the gap between the European top teams and the non-Europeans to get smaller.

Indeed, bizzare. Especially since there is no culture in Europe to support other European nations. If anything I want to see France or Spain to crash out.

Bitterness comes in many forms: People outside Europe often see Europeans as entitled, arrogant self centered and hypocritical and i dont blame them for it.

That said, football is football and i dont personally hold any hostility towards any team apart from Chile and England maybe.

Seeing things change up a bit is nice tho. This world cup so far have been a pleasant surprise when it comes to underdogs.

Europeans have a way of looking at other continents as inferior. Not just in football, but in life.
