Italy will not neccesarly demolish the United States...infact I think we have a better chance against the Azzurri than we do the Czechs because they will take the game to us and our defense cannot handle constant attacking football. Bruckner's side also moves the ball around fast and if Nedved is on form I'm afraid we will not be able to handle the Czechs.

However, Italy is known to mess around during the group stage and with their more conservative play we have a better chance against them in my opinion. The pressure will also be on Italy and Lippi to make up for recent failures, and if Totti has another blunder we could honestly beat or at least tie Italy in the summer. The money is going to be all on them, however I wouldn't count my boys out. But hopefully Lippi will take my side as lightly as some are around here...that would be perfect for us.

Ghana is really unkown at this point however their midfield is going to cause us problems, especially containing Essien. I wish we would have received an easier draw but that's the breaks and I believe in my side to fight till the death and perhaps upset one of these superpowers in Germany. Think Argentina, France, and Portugal last time around for further reference on whether the US has a chance or not..

I don't think Lippi can be compared to some memebers here, including me.;) Lippi is one of the best Italian coaches and at least he knows that the mistake is to underrate other teams. He stated that Italy is not a favorite in the group but not outsider as well.
He will know what to do.I'm sure.

And what he has won with those clubs? When he coached roma? And viola? But no england clubs? Hm.....he definetly hasnt done much with england national team....
But it seems he knows well italian football (if he really has coached so many italian clubs) he might actually get a result against italy.....) But when he was coach of lazio and roma? Hm... i guess there had to be somekind of war in rome when he went from lazio to roma or another way around......
He's won quite a few titles:

Italian Cup Winners 1986

1987-89: AC Fiorentina

1989-92: SL Benfica
Portuguese League Champions 1991

1992-97: Sampdoria UC
Italian Cup Winners 1994

1997-2000: SS Lazio

Ok I added Gerrard.:)
I think that you have strong collective national team.I really have a sympathy for Sweden (one of the reasons is that my grandfather is from Sweden).
Anyway I think that your best days were in 1994. with Dahlin,Brolin,Andersson,Ravelli and much younger Larsson.;)
I think our team today is better, more complete. But the result in WC -94 is hard to beat. :weee:

I just dont understand, everybody....other forums, news comments....keep telling that italy will fail totaly.........much have chansed after wc 2002..... we have a new coach-this means, he comes with new ideas, differant gameplay.......and etc....i just dont understand why people, who have no idea of managers just say, ah italy....defending their 1:0 lead and end up getting beaten by some asia team......lippi isnt actually a defending stile of coach.....he can use differant tactics in differant games......this italy looks more attacking then defending imo.....

This is going to be interesting however am not forecasting anything this WC. Just watch and enjoy myself. My hopes are for a realistic WC with plenty of good football & for 1 or 2 young heroes to be born.
Team I will support - Most probably Sweden as I might be there then :)

Have we underestimated Totti's ability to self-destruct in crucial moments and take the whole team's morale down with him?

Fact of the matter is Italy was not exactly stunning during qualifying and we are yet to see what Lippi's side is capable of. But the fact remains that Italy have been knocked out of the last two successive tournaments in quite disasterous fashion so they have a lot to prove. And I wouldn't call Lippi's side "attacking" at all...don't let friendlies skew your opinion.

I am also worryng that his stupid move might cost us anykind of success......id rather pench him, but i think lippi will use him as a starter......his our troublemaker.....he can f-ck us totally..........his more after roma glory.....sometimes he doesnt care ---- of national team....... like his strange illnesses just before juve-roma game.......f-ck..... now when i think about it......:scared: :frown2: :irritated :angry2: :faq2:

The thing what worrys me about him the moust his that we might end up playing a man less in a very tricky situation......

He might play a good game, but sometimes it looks like there is something more important to do in the pitch than playing football.....and if things are not going in our way....he might start personal fights with opponent players.... a la poulsen

i am worryd guys....

eee, what about 4-3 win over belarus if i am correct, was it belarus? but i know, it was 4-3.... i was surprised italy scoring 4 goals......also conseeding 3 (with :strong: in the goal)

The thing why we wherent stunning was more because of lippi resolving the problem, who is worth to start whos not.......we called actually very many players during this q period to play, and its first time, lippi is national team coach.....things take time....he tested differant players do understand who should go to germany who not....... i also think he enjoyed the thing he had so many players to pick from.....if i am right, there where games when the team had moustly palermo/sampdoria players....

But about the thing italy attacking......well, they doesnt looked that "lets score one and defend" kind of mentaly......

Any team with committment & serious work rate always troubles Italy. One thing though if Italy does not shed their attitude of, "we are here to collect what is rightfully ours" then they can forget going far in the WC.
