Yes, and Berardi has proven to have abilities.
It doesn't matter how good a scout or coach you are, it is not possible to know exactly how good someone will turn out to be, despite signs of promise. If it were Liverpool would have taken a million of the £35 they paid for Andy Caroll and used it to hire one of these all-knowing scouts to prevent them from wasting all that money.
The fact is that for as many good scouting stories and integrations exist there's at least double the amount of failures. Fully developed, highly rated players often flop, and the amount of speculation involved on the scouts' end in assessing their value is much less than that of a youngster who has the potential to be great.
Just stop assuming you or anyone else knows how good Berardi will become. He's a good player for his age and let's hope that he'll become an amazing player in the future instead of preemptively acting as if he's bound to be a squad player at best for the rest of his career.

This got me to thinking about players we missed out on who could potentially have worn our jersey (we were very close to them at one point).
I can think of Pele, Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo, and the original Ronaldo. Am I missing anyone else worth mentioning? Imagine an attack comprising Del Piero and Ronaldo being backed by Zidane and Davids. That is an insane amount of talent there, just as good as the Barca of Stoichkov, Hagi, and Romario
