There is something we can do, it's called doing what every other successful club in Europe does and building towards a BACK 4, where the need for a sweeper is negated.

Those concentration lapses he 'sometimes has' were happening twice a fucking game at some points last season. I'm not ever going to be grateful towards a player who has to be protected so, so much because of his shortcomings.

All of the other European clubs figured out playing a back 3 with a defensive liability has no place in modern football. Note I said modern football not todays Serie A where there's about 4 legitimate wingers in the entire league.

I never said Bonucci should be a starter in out back4.

But he is a very valuable player to have. When he is in good form, he'll challenge for a starting place.

You are seriously overdoing it with those concentration lapses. We had 1 blunder each game at the start of the season, by buffon, chiellini, caceres, pirlo. Wich ultimatly costed us the CL group stage.

Not a single of those blunders was bonucci's fault. Why am i not hearing that ? He was the most decent defender back then.

His short back pass for Buffon vs Galata was entirely on him.

Yeah, and a win against Gala at either stage would've put us in the knockout stages

Let's not forget a HUGE portion of our games (obviously) and Bonuccis mistakes happened in Serie A. But so, so often our oppositon are too busy parking the double decker bus to punish us, as we often play against 1 or 2 isolated strikers with no support whatsoever. So a weak Bonucci backpass or a stupid long ball attempt that gets intercepted is swiftly dealt with by our competent defenders.

Protected from each side by Chiello and Barza, did very little when it comes to defending. Actually he was more detrimental in that aspect, but his decent passing ability when he'd step in for Pirlo, while maestro was shut down, and had acted as 2nd playmaker suited our needs at one point. Anyway you mad that Vidal won't come to United?

to narrow, clogs it for vidal and pogba
Don't think so , we played 4-3-2-1 with madrid . It depends on how players are organised in defensive/attacking phase of the game .

Defensive phase that is without the ball becomes a 4-5-1 also look at how wide the madrid player (bale i think) is in a 4-3-3

Attacking phase that is in possession becomes 4-3-2-1, if you notice the width is provided from our wingbacks asamoah and caceres . Now look at tevez playing as inside forward between CB and RB

-------------
Now compare that to the 3-5-2 vs napoli

Defensive phase becomes a 5-3-2

Attacking phase again width is provided by asamoah and licht

Easier to explain with pics :D
