The reason people are so focused on the players defensive abilities because that is what Conte wants. Do you see how far everyone drops back when the other team has the ball? All 11 players are in their own half. You would think it would be okay to defend with 5 men but Conte needs the whole team because
everyone is so fucking deadly.
One reason is the defensive liability of Pirlo and the proneness of our slow overrated defense to counters. It also explains why we take short corners.

Wingers don't have to actually be able to defend inside their own box, clear with flying headers, make sliding tackles, etc.

They just have to hold space and run. You can play defense with any wingers. Mourinho once had Eto'o at LB and he was effective simply because he ran and held space.
I'm totally for wingers all I am saying is with Conte and his tactics we will continue to see our players defend and he will look for players who will contribute.

Many coaches prefer wingers with high workrate, thats not something new.Heck even the likes of Ribery,Reus etc track back and put shifts in defense.
But if the first quality u're looking in a winger is his defensive skills rather than his offensive skill, then u're obviously going nowhere there.

Yeah i'm not suggesting we buy some ridiculously lazy wingers. But it makes sense to buy a genuinely useful winger and coach him defensively, as opposed to stacking up on workhorses who offer us next to nothing in the areas we actually need them.

Lavezzi would be great, if only PSG would be willing to sell him. Sanchez is good at that too, so if h is available for under 30M, dont think, just pay :D. but i think it is a done deal already like it was with Tevez last season :D

Santon's idea hits the bull's eye. He can play both sides and would be pretty eager to win something with us, as he still plays for mediocre Newcastle and hasnt't achieved anything important with his club since Inter departure. But, unfortunately, there is no single rumour linking him with us.

As for Schar from Basel, we have been monitoring him for half a year at least.

We need to sign established players who have their own game. If we get others, we overtime suck the life out of them and mould them to the Juve style which, let's face it, isn't going to get us anywhere.

Tevez has been an absolutely fantastic divining and a great example to what I've said in this regard.

That is beautiful but I highly doubt we could get Lavezzi without letting Pogba go and Sanchez+Lavezzi+Coentrao+back ups would cost a whole lot more than we have right now.
but the backups wouldnt be expensive in this case. in the defense, we wouldnt have to buy anyone if we get Coentrao. CMs also, Marchisio and Asamoah are just fine. the offensive part would be tricky. Gio backup for Tevez, sign Menez for free and add Lulic in a swap for Quag and Peluso. Immobile backup for Llorente. so, we would have to spend all on these 3 (Lavezzi, Sanchez, Coentrao)...

I am going to be an optimist. I think this season even though we lost some good amount due to our early CL exit, I think the board will want to show a degree of ambition to the fans, players and coach.
Marotta summer has been generally good and I believe this coming summer market, he will deliver and we will sign some big name players without losing our top talents.

Our desire or say, desperation for wingers shudnt go that far.
Sell Immobile to fund Sanchez move if its needed.

Somebody here suggested Pogba for cash + Oscar.I would take that.Use the remaining amount to get Sanchez and we'll improve teb fold as a team.Would be fapworthy imo.
