Rooney will either go to Madrid or City. Hard to imagine him going to City, but he might be enough of an asshole to do something like that.

But as I would look at it, he's been in Manchester forever now, why ruin your standing with the United fans and play for their closest rival when you can go to Ronaldo route, join a top club in Madrid and still be considered well by the United supporters.

We cant afford Rooney's wage. The same reason why we couldn't land RVP. Im 100% sure we wont be going after Rooney. I think we will try to land either Jojo or Sanchez. Might even try to make a move for Suarez with Liverpool debt rising and missing out on CL again.

What I am worried is if Rooney is leaving surely Man U is going after someone to replace him, and we might be fighting over the same target again this summer if he does leave.

@Mark,

Have you heard anything about Berardi lately? I just read that Juventus have pretty much secured him because we have a great relationship with Sassuolo.

Any info on other youngsters?

Rooney wouldn't last a minute under Conte's training regime
And you are basing this on...??? Other than tabloid rumours and perhaps a line or two from Ferguson about his fitness last Summer, Rooney has been fine. As recently as the very weekend before the Madrid game, he was in dazzling form against Norwich. Which of course, is different to playing Madrid, but regardless the class he oozed on the field was a cut above every other player involved in the game, on both sides...He would be an amazing signing for any top team, but as others have said, there is zero chance we could afford his wages. As we couldn't afford the wages of most of the very best players. Llorente is a great start in upping the quality, Jovetic would be a major step forward...its going to be too tricky to challenge for players who earn ungodly amount such as 250k per week. Madrid, PSG or City could afford that. So could a russian and chinese team or two, but Rooney wants to play football and win, not look for merely the greatest pay packet. I could see him dropping his wage a little, but not to our levels.

Seems that we are still going for Zaza.

21 year old striker, has 16 goals in Serie B this season. May be available for €2m with his contract up in 2014 at Samp.

Looks very rough and more of a poacher than anything else, but still could be an investment.
