It's kind of funny. I played some Football Manager the past week since the release and I have to say I have the same problems as the team has in real life. My defence is solid and I'm still unbeaten (I'm in december now if I'm remembering it correctly). But I have so much trouble getting that ball into the net! Many games end in draw. I can create chances and I have a lot of possession but Matri, Vucinic, Quagmire, DP and everyone else just can't score! Each game I watch 'em miss good opportunities. My wingers aren't exactly solid and to get something useful out of them I switch wingers almost every game because they are so inconsistent. Giach has even become my main wingman(!!!!!). Anyway, my point is that I share my concerns in FM in real life as well. Unless Matri suddenly turns into WC and Vucinic as well. We might be in trouble in the long term. I know many of you have voiced the same concerns so all I want to say is that I share it. I've earlier said that our main issue was our LB (which still is a huge problem) but I guess I was wrong. Our attack is so... unsuperior...

we were linked with him at the start of the summer mercato, he is promising, but deemed not good enough to start for us by some here, whether we're willing to pay the asking price is another matter, we seemed rather put off by it.
Vertonghen is no worse then Bonucci is on CB or Chiellini is on LB but not much of an improvement either.
He plays as a CB for Ajax, he isn't bad, but he definately needs a quality CB next to him. I'd say that at the moment, he isn't an upgrade for what we have now.
His main advantage is that he can be used as CB, LB and as DMC.
I'd prefer to see us go for a number one CB (assuming Chiellini has to stick on the LB as long as De Ceglie isn't there) or go for a starter LB and put Chiellini back to CB spot.

How good is Jan Vertonghen dutch people and eredivise followers ?
+ has a great left foot (can pass a ball), is strong, and can play at several position for us I say dc, lb and dmc, drives to the midfield.
-makes very dumb mistake still, is no leader, is kinda like bonucci he needs a good dc next to him one who destroy the striker. gets frustate soon.

Ajax will probably ask 15m in winter and 10 in summer if he doesn't renew his contract.
His contracted expires in 2013
conclusion
rather not for that same price go for benattia of udinese or kolarov or something.

doubt it, udinese will just find someone else, udinese can't afford bonucci's wages unless he takes a cut which i doubt he would anyways. the highest earner at udinese is around 700k per anum. you got as much chance of giving them bonucci as you do selling them amauri as well
