Ohh , I wholeheartedly agree with you here. Where we disagree obviously is how to achieve those goals. See you think, that if we sell pepe for 5 or less now and acquire the next Pepe for 15 that is reasonable and a CL spot material. I don't. Why? Cause that is the same reason we've signed Pepe for at first place.
Now lets think for a second - when we didn't have money last year and our financial situation was even worse ... do you think the owners of that club were thinking about injecting cash? Perhaps they didn't have a plan for the next 10 years, but if they didn't know whats going to happen the following year that's not what you call planning in any way. There were goals, ones we all knew about and perhaps others we didn't, nonetheless certainly there were some. Out business plan? Our 'financial capacity'? Our future 'financial capacity'? ... Yeah ... who knows, right? Are you kidding me!
Now lets scratch that outright and never mention it again, cause it doesn't sound very 'realistic' and it certainly doesn't justify 'reasonable cost'. Why? Because in the real world it doesn't work. It gives no return. So let's get back to what Moggi was doing, shall we? Sometimes cost is more than justified. In a market that has been scouted by more people than a medium sized country its pretty hard to find a cheap player, already on a top level and ready to give you medals. And those that are known to possess such qualities have the appropriate price for their standards. For most of our starting 11 positions we have already overpaid that price and achieved nothing doing exactly what you are saying. The financial non-sense I leave apart, the same way I wouldn't talk about the fact that this is our second financial injection in a short amount of time and that speaks volumes by itself... but that's another topic.
So let's not do what you suggest, let us not be 'reasonable' as we were when we acquired Pepe (10+ mils), Martinez (12 mils) and now Barnetta(ex.) and lets be 'unreasonable' by spending the same amount of money on one player like Mata, Hazard or Nani.

Afellay won't come and I don't want Elia in Juve at this point. Vargas it is.

If we didn't spend 35M on all the loan guys, we would've had enough money for one of these names, for example. Even for the wages. And if you check our starters for this season, you'll probably only see one of those ex-loaned guys in the starting eleven.

God! Another idiot. Newsflash: Players are not attracted by their clubs. They are paid. The laws of attraction occur between players and models and its still doubtful whether its not between the model and the player's wallet. Believe it or not the world of football revolves around money too. What you've just said is so lame its unbelievable. It's like saying : "I am ugly, hence I can't drive a ferrari..."...
