I have my doubts about that attractive argument for guys like Hazard and Jovetic.

We could tempt them with high wages and making them the central figure of a project (Pastore would accept/accepted that, for example). Well, Lille is in CL, but still... we can't really know without trying.
 ironic, cause we won't be offering 100k a week for them, whilst clubs like city and madrid might

pastore didnt move to psg for a project alone, he left cause the money was far better.

people here bitch about not trying for hazard and mata, but bitch for trying to aguero and fail due to circumstances that were out of our hands. how fickle some people can be?

at the end of the day, having the likes of pepe, martinez etc... is not what is preventing us from signing the likes of mata, hazard etc... the transfer fee is one thing, but we sure as hell can't compete on the wages against other sides.
I think as of now those twos are taking around 3.2 (2.2 martinez and 1+ pepe , right?) mils per year as salaries, if not more. I don't think that counts as a small salary in the world of football and certainly some of the players we were talking about wouldn't be more than a million more. Again a moot point.

PS: And if I am wrong and Pepe gets around 1.5 - we are talking close to 4 mils. ~ 80 000 euros per week.... certainly not Ribery material, but not shabby at all!

we couldn't even attract aguero on 6.5 mill a season. look at the end of the day i'd rather have vidal, licht, vucinic, a decent LW and CB at the cost of 1 aguero/tevez etc...

even if we offered aguero 200k a week, city would always offer more to the point where we cannot compete.

why do people think all of a sudden cause the elkanns gave us money, we're suddenly a team funded by a sugar daddy. WE ARE NOT!

You talk so much crap. We have money and Hazard or Mata wouldn't ask for 10 million euro. Just cuz City offered Aguero more than 10 million euro doesn't mean that guys like Mata or Hazard will. We should be able to pull off a 20-25 million signing of Mata. If we can't pay 25 milllion for a player then I can guarantee you we'll never win anything ever again.

Maybe because of our history? Because we've always been one, except when Moggi got things under control...
6.5 for Aguero ... add the 4.2 Amauri is getting and voila we are in the 10 mils zone... We just leveled City!!!
Anyway he was an option only if we've got some sort of pre-agreement in print. We didn't and Marotta spoke about it, like we did. He is a fool. End of discussions.
Also if we open negotiation with those 3 players and table respectable offers to all of them - they can't all be signed by Manchester City now , can they? When you put all your eggs in one basket, don't ask Marotta to carry it home.

There is always the question once your youth starts showing wc quality, wouldn't they ask for wc salaries? Will Marotta be their agent as well? He will explain - look, you've got the offer from us at 1.001 mils per year and city with 10 mils per year, but I know you'll stay here, cause you are eternally grateful to this club. 5 year contract, right?

Living in Paris must be a huge attraction.

Neither of those players will be sold this summer for the amount Agüero was sold for, nor the wages he'll command.

Man you don't get it, do you? There is a point of diminishing returns in this thing. More so if the player is supposed to be squad player or bench-warmer. City can't sign all the players that we need, mainly because they don't have as much holes in their squad as we do. They are overspending perhaps, but there are a lot of good players out of their scope. Then there is the first-mover advantage or disadvantage - or in lame terms, we could have closed the deal for Aguero before City even knew about it, but perhaps we thought the conditions does not suit us. I guess we will never know the truth.
The fact is we need a WC LW and currently no one bigger than us is looking for such a player. We've listed 3 candidates already and they can't all be bought by City.

Exactly, Pastore left for the project and the money which was exactly what I was suggesting. 4-5M/year are big wages for guys like Hazard and Jovetic.

I didn't bitch about Aguero, so you can calm the fuck down. Not to mention Aguero's reputation compared to the names I suggested...

P.S.: Of course I'm not saying we can easily get them, because we will have always have few chances against other (CL) clubs, if they dare to make an offer.

no sir, you dont get it! if it is not city, it is madrid, if it is not madrid it is someone else. WE CANNOT FINANCIALLY COMPETE WITH THE LIKES OF CITY WHO WILL ALWAYS RAISE THE STAKES HIGHER THAN OUR OWN FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS!

now is that so hard to understand? i bolded it, put it in italics, and underlined it just incase!

in the past we spent a huge chunk of our budget on the likes of Diego and Melo, neglecting other positions, look how well that idea turned out!
