To be honest, Bale is extremely over hyped because of his performances against Inter in the CL.

Looking at Marotta's words about him, "only a club with more money could get in the way", made it seem like either the player or the club were waiting to see if they could get any more money for him after the Copa América. And either could have waited for a club in a better position than Juventus for a bigger transfer, given the player's quality.
