I REALLY don't want to get the reputation on here for wanting to be a know-it-all, as I can come off arrogant etc, but in a nutshell, let me explain how we should deal with striker transfers -
We play a 4-3-3 formation and a 3-5-2. This is already a bad start (although both formations have worked very well this season) as it'll create inconsistencies in signings, and players will get confused. That aside, let's look at what we have to work with:
1: A 4-3-3 cries for a complete forward who can score with his head, his feet, and has a great work rate. This player will often become isolated due to being a lone striker, so must be physically imposing, and have some decent pace at the same time. He must have a cool head, and not get frustrated easily.
2: A 3-5-2 needs a target man, partnered with a poacher who will just stand there, and be in the right place at the right time to bang in goals. Alternatively, a 3-4-1-2 (which I believe would work better), would have a Juan Mata type player in the hole, who can drift wherever he pleases, while also being an advanced playmaker ahead of the primary playmaker dictating the tempo (Pirlo in this case). With a man behind 2 strikers, you wouldn't want either striker dropping deep, as it would cause congestion and confusion. Either 2 poachers, or a Target Man/Defensive Forward (I will explain) - Poacher system would work.
For the 4-3-3, the perfect sort of striker would be a Cavani or Drogba (in his prime) type player. Players like Suarez and Tevez would get hit off the ball far too easily as they'd often find themselves surrounded by opposing players, and being a lone striker, would have much more pressure on them. I doubt either Suarez or Tevez could handle that pressure.
As for the 3-5-2/3-4-1-2, a clinical, advanced forward would be ideal (Think Torres in his prime, or a taller version of Javier Hernandez). He'd need to be partnered with someone who's unselfish and whose primary aim ISN'T to score goals (Odd for a striker, I know, but let me explain.) This partner would work as that defensive forward. That's a player who is physically dominant, and whose primary aim is to be a distraction. He will drag defenders out of position, creating space for his partnered forward to exploit, take aim from, and then shoot. GOAAAALLLL!!!!!
So - In a 4-3-3, i'd suggest Cavani. He's literally the only player I can think of off the top of my head who's suited to the role perfectly. The price would be a shame though.
For the 3-4-1-2, a partnership of Giroud and Luuk de Jong of Twente would be LETHAL. Trust me. Often, a fantastic player will look pretty average in an average team, and I think that's what many will think of Jong if they look him up on Youtube...but he'd flourish here. Trust me.
He reminds me of Henry during his time with Arsenal. Oh and by the way - Jong has 30 league goals this season (2 penalties)... and he's 21 years old.
PHEW! Finished.
I've heard rumours, thankfully, that we ARE actually interested in Jong, so if we do actually step up interest in him, I'll scream like a prepubescent girl about to lose her virginity to Justin Bieber.
Final comment on Jong: Remember - The best clubs find the coal, and turn them into diamonds. The weak clubs find the diamonds, and crush them to pieces.

P.S. - For anyone wanting to see this Luuk de Jong character, this is a decent vid -
