I dont see Drogba as a risk, he's a very good player who's just steadily declining. He probably has a good 2 seasons left in him.

But I dont think Drogba would suit our current system. Suarez on the other hand would.

Drogba would bring massive shirt sales and will expaand our fan base to africa. That is not to mention that he can still be influential.

Drogba is a great player, though not young anymore.

As for shirt sales I pretty much doubt it, why would a guy from Congo care about Drogba? They would probably buy fake jerseys anyway.

I really like the talk of Higuain. Excellent player needed to finish those delightful Pirlo through-balls. Would it be worth having a go at Benzema as well?

Drogba on a free? With decent wages, and it exclaimed that there are one or two strikers in front of him, I can't see why not. It's the same for Nesta. Again, if it's a free, who cares? He probably won't get into the team, but adds depth.

Benzema will not leave Real anytime soon.. We do have a shot on Higuain.. IF City, Chelsea and PSG wont go into a bidding war.
Sick of all the money-men swallowing up the talent.

If Higuain was kept quiet and brought in in the summer, I'd say that's an excellent signing, but as someone has said, anything over €25-30m is a waste.

He's started 36 and been subbed on 26 times for Real this season in all competitions. 32 goals in all comps! He is signed until 2016, though...

EDIT: I agree with your sig too. KEEP. AWAY. MERCENARY!

For the striking position my number one option would be Cavani, then Benzema, then Rooney(impossible but would fit like a glove) and then finally Higuian that I am personally not too fond 'bout, but would be a FANTASTIC acquisition.

Rooney is cool.

But seriously this striker situation is worrying me;
- Suarez, Pool most likely wont sell and I doubt he's the player we need.
- Higuain, RM may want to sell, PSG/City are interested so his price might be too expensive. We couldn't get a player like that in such a situation ''on our own terms''.
- Cavani, looks more like Lavezzi is getting sold and if the offer isnt insane, ADL wont sell Cavani.

Which leaves us with the lesser players like Dzeko.

How is Suarez not the player we need? :sergio: I feel like Pool will sell for the right offer, and maybe even a valuable player in exchange. Krasic, Elia may tempt them. Remember a couple of their players maybe sold this season given their lack of CL next year. Suarez IMO would be happy to leave England for Italy.

That lesser player is probably better than all our strikers combined. He would literally be guaranteed starter every single game of the season. It'd be like "Hey, who are the other 10 guys starting alongside Dzeko next Sunday?" I think the best thing we have going for us this summer is that we're an appealing project for players that want to push their careers to the next level. At that stage where it's no longer just a promise and potential of a project, but the actual thing. A big player sidelined-ed at his current club would find that appealing.

If Milan don't get him - and I don't think they will - I'd like Tevez. This league would have been decided about a month ago if either we or Milan bought Tevez.

Surely Cavani is gettable. Just blow the 40m transfer budget on him. F*k the winger, or Asamoha or whatever.... just get him, then try pick up some Bosmans and use the young players.

I REALLY don't want to get the reputation on here for wanting to be a know-it-all, as I can come off arrogant etc, but in a nutshell, let me explain how we should deal with striker transfers -

We play a 4-3-3 formation and a 3-5-2. This is already a bad start (although both formations have worked very well this season) as it'll create inconsistencies in signings, and players will get confused. That aside, let's look at what we have to work with:

1: A 4-3-3 cries for a complete forward who can score with his head, his feet, and has a great work rate. This player will often become isolated due to being a lone striker, so must be physically imposing, and have some decent pace at the same time. He must have a cool head, and not get frustrated easily.

2: A 3-5-2 needs a target man, partnered with a poacher who will just stand there, and be in the right place at the right time to bang in goals. Alternatively, a 3-4-1-2 (which I believe would work better), would have a Juan Mata type player in the hole, who can drift wherever he pleases, while also being an advanced playmaker ahead of the primary playmaker dictating the tempo (Pirlo in this case). With a man behind 2 strikers, you wouldn't want either striker dropping deep, as it would cause congestion and confusion. Either 2 poachers, or a Target Man/Defensive Forward (I will explain) - Poacher system would work.

For the 4-3-3, the perfect sort of striker would be a Cavani or Drogba (in his prime) type player. Players like Suarez and Tevez would get hit off the ball far too easily as they'd often find themselves surrounded by opposing players, and being a lone striker, would have much more pressure on them. I doubt either Suarez or Tevez could handle that pressure.

As for the 3-5-2/3-4-1-2, a clinical, advanced forward would be ideal (Think Torres in his prime, or a taller version of Javier Hernandez). He'd need to be partnered with someone who's unselfish and whose primary aim ISN'T to score goals (Odd for a striker, I know, but let me explain.) This partner would work as that defensive forward. That's a player who is physically dominant, and whose primary aim is to be a distraction. He will drag defenders out of position, creating space for his partnered forward to exploit, take aim from, and then shoot. GOAAAALLLL!!!!!

So - In a 4-3-3, i'd suggest Cavani. He's literally the only player I can think of off the top of my head who's suited to the role perfectly. The price would be a shame though.

For the 3-4-1-2, a partnership of Giroud and Luuk de Jong of Twente would be LETHAL. Trust me. Often, a fantastic player will look pretty average in an average team, and I think that's what many will think of Jong if they look him up on Youtube...but he'd flourish here. Trust me.
He reminds me of Henry during his time with Arsenal. Oh and by the way - Jong has 30 league goals this season (2 penalties)... and he's 21 years old.

PHEW! Finished.
I've heard rumours, thankfully, that we ARE actually interested in Jong, so if we do actually step up interest in him, I'll scream like a prepubescent girl about to lose her virginity to Justin Bieber.

Final comment on Jong: Remember - The best clubs find the coal, and turn them into diamonds. The weak clubs find the diamonds, and crush them to pieces.

P.S. - For anyone wanting to see this Luuk de Jong character, this is a decent vid -
