A hack like Caceres in the middle of the box. With VAR in play now.

I mean, what could go wrong?

Paratici has learned from Beppe that you don't keep an unmotivated and unhappy player around. Beppe might be gone but his spirit lives on in his disciple Paratici.

Ok. But if the overwhelming majority of people took umbrage with that policy while Marotta was here, why is it suddenly ok now?

Fabio is good looking so the more handsome members on this forum can relate to him much easier. In essence Fabio has all of Beppe's powers with improved facial esthetics and eyesight.

Yes but he was very error prone and caused us a pk in cl just last year that lost us the CL
Sorry but that's not true. You're not the only one who keeps spreading that false claim though. There were multiple fuckups in that situation by our players. Benatia was one of the few players that were actually positioned correctly and almost saved us from what was a certain goal.

You are going under the assumption that Bonmucci and Chiellini are going to be healthy for the remainder of the season
That's a very good point. Giorgio is probably going to pick up some injury when it's the worst possible moment to pick it up, as he already did several times. But now he'll at least have Caceres already waiting for him in the medical center, so Chiellini won't be so lonely, maybe this is the plan :baus:.

You are going under the assumption that Bonmucci and Chiellini are going to be healthy for the remainder of the season. When was the last time that happened? Especially Chiellini. Benatia would not be the reason why we would lose it, and I don't even know how you came to that conclusion. But an exhausted and/or injured Chiellini or Bonucci? Yeah, that could lose us the CL.
Last year. We were in the exact same situation with CBs last year, maybe even better now.

Last season: Chiellini, Benatia, Barzagli, Rugani, Howedes
This season: Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli, Rugani, Caceres

What's the difference?

Last year. We were in the exact same situation with CBs last year, maybe even better now.

Last season: Chiellini, Benatia, Barzagli, Rugani, Howedes
This season: Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli, Rugani, Caceres

What's the difference?
- Barzagli's level decreased drastically, and this is an ongoing process. Now his presence in the list is rather nominal.
- Benedict is twice as good as Caceres when they are both fit.
- Benatia was basically on the same level as Bonucci as a defender, but without psychological issues of the latter, which often surface when the pressure is high and which is not a good thing to have if you're a contender for a CL title.

But even with that, last year's result was far from what this team want to achieve this season. So it seems like an obvious downgrade or, at least, a stagnation with a strong negative trend.

The only positive thing that can be said about CBs is that Chiellini seems to have risen his level even higher this season, to the GOATs level for defenders. But he still has that tradition to watch games injured from the stands when his presence on the pitch is highly needed, so even his legend-level status doesn't really make you confident in defensive options of this team on the distance of at least several months.

It's definitely not OK, especially mid season. We seem to be shooting ourselves in the foot. Unless there is something more than Caceres being cooked in the background.

You make it sound like we signed Knezevic.

Caceres was anything but a hack during his time here.
