That's not true, but when talking about Gentile, Scirea, and Baresi, they were some of the, if not THE, best defenders to ever live. Baresi and Gentile invented zone marking, and Scirea made it an art.

In terms of "older" players in general, have any players won 5 CL trophies since Di Stefano?

Some older players have so many honors and some had scoring records that are not and will not be rivaled, ever.

If you say that, then doesnt that mean Buffon > Zoff, since Zoff played with those guys in front of him in his older years. By your point Zoff had better defenders in front of him through his career than Buffon has had.

I don't believe in using team honours to compare players.

Yashin was also helped by Soviet propaganda, but anyways I don't know how you can really compare any footballers from different eras. Those in the distant past will always benefit from legend and nostalgia.

Seedorf and Maldini have 5 CL trophies.
Yea, but they are black, so it doesn't count?

Zoff will always be better than Buffon because Zoff had better BURNSIDES!

I don't believe in using a parachute when I jump out of a plane, but hey, I guess we are both dumb then.
By Burke logic Buffon never has had the artists and best markers in front of him "helping" out Zoff.
Gigi raped a 5th grader.

Speak for yourself, I'll use the damn parachute. Put Di Stefano in this Juve side and I doubt he'd win 5 European Cups.
