But how can you say that in your opinion, someone you have never seen is better than someone else? I think people tend to think of past legends as having immovable status as the best.

"Zoff was a goalkeeper of outstanding ability and has a place in the history of the sport among the very best in this role, being named the 3rd greatest goalkeeper of the 20th century by the IFFHS behind Lev Yashin and Gordon Banks."

From Wiki, but Buffon can't be on that since he's not retired.

If you are one of those "can't vote for them because I never saw them play" guys, you are an idiot, and I can prove it in one instance.
So basically it doesn't matter what any current or future player does becuase those past legends have a premanent staus as the best. And it's premament because there's no way you can compare them.

Anyhow, off to watch inter drop points to Genoa.

That's not true, but when talking about Gentile, Scirea, and Baresi, they were some of the, if not THE, best defenders to ever live. Baresi and Gentile invented zone marking, and Scirea made it an art.

In terms of "older" players in general, have any players won 5 CL trophies since Di Stefano?

Some older players have so many honors and some had scoring records that are not and will not be rivaled, ever.
