Being Greek and coming from a country that gave birth to democracy,
i would like to see a REAL democracy, as opposed to the Presidential representative democracy we have now.

I wish to live in a society than no one is above law and everybody respects laws.
Laws fair for everyone, that doesnt bend according to the winds...
One vote for a person, once every 4 years and the choice between one of the two political parties, families actually, that are bound to win anyway,
is not my idea about a democratic state.
Its actually a black or white answer, a yes or no, for the bad or the worse of the choices...
This is aristocracy as far as i am concerned and it does not favors the people's interests, because a few wealthy and influent families govern the country no matter what and they dont respect the citizen's will and interests!

Today, civilians could get involve more often, in serious affairs, public polls via internet would show the people's choice on important matters, once in a month or 3 months at least, so that the government should feel the pressure and adapt to the people's interests.
And its not that hard to accomplish in a country of 10 million people in 2008!

on the other hand, i dont really trust public opinion and common sense,
it might be fair but not right/correct...
it seems that the Scandinavian countries have the best system at the moment...

But she wasn't the president, she was the first lady, albeit with a lot of involvement in her husband's politics. Because of that you can't list her as a dictator as in no point in time was she head of the country.

Depends on the annunciation. There's some continental Portuguese that can come out really guttoral and spitting -- like a camel with a sinus condition. That is just plain harsh.

But the sing-song nature of Brazilian Portuguese, for example, is IMO one of the most beautiful languages in the world along with Italian.

That's exactly as I've always heard it, really nice metaphor.

And actually I've heard the "Brasilian sing-along" the most, mainly on soap operas on TV and it sounded the worse of the lot. Perhaps it was just bad actors though.
