I think everyone here is spot on about Democracy. It should be used where it can work, but even in the most extreme cases,it wil never be the ultimate solution to all the problems.

Democracy has its advantages obviously, but people end up over estimating its usefullness. One of Democracy's biggest advantages perhaps,is the fact that it will get you support from the masses.A leader who says 'I'll the rule the way i want to rule' wont be as popular as someone who'd go 'I'll rule the way the people want me to rule'.I dont know about other countries, but over here atleast, the slogan of Democracy is only used to get high on populairty rankings.Whoever gets elected tries controlling everything anyway, and Democracy is never heard of again.

Plus is it just me,or has anyone else noticed that 'Dictatorship' instantly brings a negative and Hitler like image in people's minds?Thats sad actually, because Dictatorship, like Democracy, has its set of Advantages(and Disadvantages) but not all dictatorships are tyrranical, something that gets assumed(wrongly) everytime someone mentons Dictatorship.

No it gets assumed correctly. There's no succesful dictatorial precedent after perhaps a minority of Roman rulers. Dictatorships means all power to one man, none to the people. That's as bad as everything it could insinuate.

Democracy is the way to go, as pointed out rightly, there's nothing better.

Yes actually. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Edit: In response to your first post. A Military dictatorshop!? Are you mad?

You're right, only in 99.9% of cases do dictators become tyrants. Let's not generalize.

Have you tried communism? It's really good. I feel comfortable using it all the time.
