A mixture of ideologies,or one particular ideology..anything.

Which political ideology do you support with respect to your own country? And why do you support that ideology?

Personally,i favour a Military dictatorship in Pakistan. This is primarily because as a country, the only progress that we've made economically, socially etc was with a military dicatator at the helm.Zia Ul Haq was a prick,so was Yahya Khan, but im a big supporter of Ayub Khan and Pervaiz Musharaf.People cry out for democracy here, but it never seems to last here.A democratic leader is elected with great enthusiasm, only to screw thing overs after a little while and bring the Military into the equation again. We lack the patience to deal with a democratic leader.Which is why as far as im concerned, the answer to this country's problems is a dictator at the helm.

So..

Which political ideology do you support with respect to your own country? And why do you support that ideology?

PS.Do mention the country you're from.

Politics is about distribution of power and therefore I think an ethical philosophy has to be a central tenet of any political ideology.

I don't like the word democracy anymore because it's so overused and abused that it has no clear meaning. The only thing left of it is that "the people should be able to decide on things", which is a very vague statement in itself. And I certainly agree that they should have a say, in certain things, but that doesn't mean that democracy is the solution to all problems and all it takes is an election and every problem in the state is magically fixed.

On the other hand, I don't think it's wise to put every single issue up for public opinion. Setting aside the practical problem on voting on everything all the time, it doesn't make sense. If a new food product comes out and we're not sure if it should be made legal because it's controversial whether it's safe or not, should the public decide? No, that would be stupid.

Basically, I don't think the political system is important. What's important is how it actually works out. In principle, I don't mind a monarchy style rule if the society it creates functions well.

very valid point. Of course what else disturbs me, is how a party can get 51% of the vote in a country that only 53% of the eligible people voted and still call it a democracy

as far as ideologies, from personal experience i have found out that the more you grow the further you move away from the idealistic left. I got to take this political science class with people from first year, fresh of high school and boy is their idealism ever annoying

i'd have first to point out something, being a socialist in Canada is tiring. The last time the socialists were in power they fucked up. The last time the conservatives were in power they fucked up and boy are they close to fuck up now too. The only choice is the liberal party that essentially does nothing.

back to idealism, these people think that once the right party is in power the gap between the rich and the poor will diminish and everyone will leave happily ever after, when the socialists won that did not happen and now no one takes them seriously.

In NA where everyone bitches about the taxes, being in the left is different than being in the left in europe

Oh, I see what you mean. Personally I've never felt "leftist" myself because the so called left always struck me as a bunch of people with no concept of the real world. There is a party in Norway called the "socialist left" which basically consists of the nicest, kindest people you ever met. Their political program is always to give more money to everyone. But where is that money coming from? Who knows.

I can see what you are saying because you are a product of your nation's system.

I'm all for democracy but with more of a bicameral parliamentary type of structure instead of the individual executive/legislative/judicial branches. So pretty much what the U.S. has right now without a such division. Although the 3 branches provide checks and balances throughout the system it sometimes causes more problems than it solves.

I know that no political system/ideology is perfect, perhaps in theory but its also a catalyst of the socio-theological environment that the ideology/system is applied to.

god i'll never understand all this politics talk..it's what screws the world
Nah.

It's religion that causes the problems.
Actually you're both wrong, its $$$$$$$$

I am from America and I support democracy and i do not align myself with right or left wing. Democracy does have its problems but as Winston Churchill once said
"Democracy is the worst possible system, aside from everything else."
