my philosophy - drink as much beer as you can, then all problems are gone. if they come back, drink more.
beer dosent take away problems. Its hard to get drunk to the level that you dont think about things with just beer.

you dont need pass out to forget about things. couple of beers, couple of friends - that puts all the problems away. of course there will always be problems that beer can solve as for that matter anything else. just got to live on with them.

Can I ask you how you plan to achieve anything? £2500 is nice sum of money for certain things. How exactly do you plan to get them voted out of office?
What if 1000 people across the states raise the same amount? Then you've got 2.5 million, or Del Piero's left foot. That'll fund quite a bit of campaigning, and that'll win the swing voters. Think of how close the last election was.

Yeah I wasnt questioning it. I was just asking what he was going to use the funds for. Im pretty sure he isnt starting a campaign to make 1000 people raise that amount tho ;)

I do quite alot of this sort of thing, and im wondering how he is going to use the money to 'make a difference'.

Then ill tell him what i recommend, and what I do. ;)

    Well, here's my tuppence worth:-

Everything in moderation - as too much of a good thing kills the fun

Treat everyone as an equal - everyone is better than you in at least one thing

Don't worry about things you can't change - waste of nervous energy - what will be, will be

Never worry about the accumulation of money; don't make it your main reason for living - there are more important things in life than material possessions

Give everyone the benefit of the doubt the first time they do something wrong - how many times has someone cut you a bit of slack when you've messed up, and you've learned from it?

Never stop having goals, aims, ambition - when you run out of these, what's left?

I'm reminded of an advert on British TV:-

A hot shot City Yuppie is talking to a local part time barman in some exotic resort. He looks over at his family and says - " I'm a millionaire. I work 15 hours a day so that I can make enough money to spend two weeks a year with my family."

    The local nods his head.

Next morning the millionaire is walking along the beach and sees the poor local with his wife and three children playing on the beach, having a wonderful time.

The local sees the Millionaire and say, "I work four hours a day so that I can spend my life with my family"

I know who I want to be

Life is about creating a balance, an equilibrium if you like, between needs and wants.

Get it right, and you are truly blessed

Young one...you have a great philosophy on life, and I like your style...but your liver will soon be knackered:down:

When I was about twenty two - three - at the end of a heavy nights drinking, I took a bet that I could drink a half bottle of whisky in one go. I didn't know any better. I did it, but about fifteen minutes later I was out for the count, only waking up two days later. The doctor told my mum that I was close to serious alcohol poisoning and could have suffered permanent damage to my vital organs. I learned my lesson. From that point on, I only drink vodka in half bottle straight downers:dontcare:

In my religion, the Baha'i Faith, we have a book entitled the Hidden Words which was written by Baha'u'llah, the Prophet-founder of the Baha'i Faith. Here are a number of excerpts from His writings in the Hidden Words. They are generally very short and start off with a O SON OF SPIRIT or BEING etc:

O SON OF BEING! Love Me, that I may love thee. If thou lovest Me not, My love can in no wise reach thee. Know this, O servant.

O SON OF SPIRIT! My first counsel is this: Possess a pure, kindly and radiant heart, that thine may be a sovereignty ancient, imperishable and everlasting.

O SON OF MAN! Breathe not the sins of others so long as thou art thyself a sinner. Shouldst thou transgress this command, accursed wouldst thou be, and to this I bear witness.

O SON OF BEING! If poverty overtake thee, be not sad; for in time the Lord of wealth shall visit thee. Fear not abasement, for glory shall one day rest on thee.

Yeah, it has tender layers of flakey pastery with a sugar sauce over it. Baklava is the sweetest piece of desert I have ever had. Best food ever.

I'm hardly the devotee of John Kerry, but whatever it takes to get the White House cleaned out of evildoers is fine by me -- even if it's by armed chimpanzees. (When you talk about comparing the lesser of two evils, the Bush administration sets a pretty high standard where anyone short of Charles Manson starts looking pretty good in the Oval Office.)

So it was a Kerry house fundraiser. They're doing them across the country on specific dates. And not to worry -- it's all on the up-and-up. ;) The donations go through online Web site accounts set up for it (we had laptops people could use at the event), checks written to the campaign, etc. $2500 isn't going to start a revolution. But if enough people feel the motivation to do this like I have...

I've been able to stomach bad political regimes here in the past. But this is honestly the first time I have felt a fundamentally moral obligation to do what's right relative to a U.S. presidential election.

Ah the legal way. In my experiences it never works. Waste of time if you ask me :)

What are they going to use all the money for? Stage a protest or something? All they do is annoy people who are being blocked.

I recommend going with culture jamming. Spend that money on posters with a catchy slogan and tag them everywhere. A poster that will make people think. What I usually do is get smaller posters with something negative written on it and then put that poster on every single campaign poster (in your case bush) you can find. Thus turning their own campaign posters against them :D

Im from the UK though, I dont know what way things go down over there. But here this works, and usually ends up being reported in newspapers etc also. :)
