Ever been to Castello di Banfi near Montalcino? I was there last year. Great estate and excellent wine and all, but my wife, a native of Napa, couldn't help but feel that she was back home. Not just the surroundings, but the same pinheads with sweaters around their necks speaking New Jersey English as you'd find up the Napa Valley.
Next time I'm going to eat there, though. They have what looks like a pretty awesome restaurant.
I'm not familiar with the others...I'll have to check them out.
Other labels I really like include Gaja (of course! *wink to Nick* ), Antinori (another wink to Nick for the Tignanello), Ceretto (Bricho Roche, Zonchero, etc.)...
One of my favorites that I've never found in the States is Taurasi, who made the original Taurasi. I first had one of those in Napoli (it's grown east of Avellino). Loved it so much I tried to ship a couple home. The Italian post office loved it so much I never received it.
