I think I am about to accomplish one of the most difficult human endeavors, admit I was wrong. I truly was.
I realized that when I attempted to explain God's characteristics to some of the members on this forum, I was blinded by my own understanding of something that I had not yet comprehended. I put faith in classical religious definitions of God without considering what I honestly think.
Here's what I have come to realize recently after a lot of thinking. God's nature is unknowable, if someone claims to know the true nature of God, that person is lying.
The truth is we do not know, nor will we ever know. I am still a Christian but I don't believe the Bible is the whole truth, maybe part of the truth but certainly not the entire truth. It may depict part of the image, but not all of it. I am going to borrow a brilliant parable from Anthony De Mello, a great spiritualist and probably the most authentic one of our time. This really demonstrates how blinded religious people are like.
- There was once a blind man that wanted to know what the color green was like so he asked me and I said, " It is like soft music". The next day another blind man comes and askes me, feeling a little akward, I answer," It is soft like silk". The next day the two blind men are screaming at each other violently, one says,"The color green is like soft silk" while the other replies, " No, it's like soft music" While neither of them know what green really is.

Green is how we perceive light around a wavelength of 500nm or so. There's nothing terribly mysterious to it. The interesting question is: when I see green, and you see green, do we experience the same thing internally, or do we just share a label for it? We don't know enough about the brain to answer that. God has no wavelength.
If our eyes, brains and everything else that is relevant in both of us are identical than we should experience the same thing. but again, how can i be sure that what i experience and name eyes is the same thing that you see and experience as eyes....so we wouldnt be able to compare. either way, you can never have access to my inner self and i can never have access to your inner self.
