i thought this was true, but after being to Italy 10 times i can say that I havent found any such glaring differences. From Napoli to Milano.

Addition: there might be 20 perceived Italys by the italians, but its just italian bullshit. Theyre all hedonists and I love being in that atmosphere
You didn’t find a difference between the culture/ambiance/look and feel of the people and the cities themselves?

I call bullshit on that one.

I resent you calling my home country imaginary.
It’s even more imaginary than Italy or Germany :D

A lot of northern Italians are blond and have blue eyes. Don’t draw Italian stereotypes from mafia movies.

They wouldn’t last in the Bri’ish rain anyway lol.
Correct generally. More likely to have blonde and blue eyes, but obviously can find those down in the south too (ironically in Sicily of all places, due to the Normans, those handsome devilish Viking descendants)

Imo. Its simplistic but in terms of genetics it’s sort of like this:

North: Celtic/Italic/Germanic (Lombards)
Central: Italic (mix with smaller amount of Greek/Celtic)
South: Greek/Italic/North African

And Sardinia is its own fucking story

Anybody else who works in tech getting worried about this?

https://www.reuters.com/technology/amazon-aws-ceo-quit-if-you-dont-want-return-office-2024-10-17/

My leadership team is definitely an "in person" sort of group so I am getting worried I'm going to have to go in more if they decide to follow suit. The couple people I work with at AWS are probably not happy but they will never say it.
As someone who works as engineer in manufacturing plants, and never got to wfh more than a day a week, I have zero sympathy for you people.

Jk, I feel ya. Sucks to have to go in if you can do your job online.

Yeah, I get it. How long is your commute? Mine is usually an hour and 45 minutes into the office. And when I’m there I get less done.

It depends on your company, how big their campus, what kind of tax breaks the city or township afforded them. Theres a whole economy around people being in office. I also believe these measures are the first steps in thinning up the herd and leaning up an organization, so if anything you should be happy you still have a job.
