I think I can utilize working different shifts as well.
I have my job now that I've been in for a few months. Pay is good, workload is great, standard tech perks ("unlimited time off," full time work from home, etc).
At the same time, I have the opportunity to take a city job that people would kill for, some people consider it like winning the lottery because of the benefits and availability of overtime. If I were to quit my current job and take that, I'd almost halve my pay in the meantime but could reach a similar level with overtime maybe 4-5 years down the road. I'd also be able to retire with a pension at the age of like 53 which is the biggest benefit of all.
But then again, where could I be in this job after 4-5 years assuming I don't get laid off for whatever reason? So I figure try to work both for a year or so and see how they feel.
