It is actually a simple process but HR has been pretty slow and made a mistake with the most important document for the application so I'll most likely have to start from scratch.

COVID hasn't really been a problem. Political instability and civil unrest have been more of a problem for me. There's a nationwide strike because the government is trying to pass commie/police state laws.

Our company fucked up with one of our managers re applications of work visa. This dude, who worked for 9 years here (never applied for citizenship lol), who they brought over specifically for this job, had to move back with his family for 8 months to Egypt, reaply from there, in the height of corona outbreak, all because of their fuck up.

There are lots of good existential or otherwise poets ... Camões to Pessoa and Quental.
Literature, there's always Saramago, Queiroz, Peixoto and the absurdist Alexandre O'Neill.
I have explored them a little, but you really need a good translator. English is brute force for the most part. And Spanish is consistent and efficient, but by comparison it lacks the precision and subtlety of word choice in Portuguese, which can nuance more of the unsaid.
I'm interested in what you discover. It's a pretty interesting historical culture, IMO.

M8s, with the ability to work fully remotely now (thanks rona, boomers finally up to date), decided to go on a 6 month long workation next year across North America.
Here's the tentative route. As you can see, while up in the Great North, I'll be sticking close to the Murica border for time/logistical purposes. But Canadians and others familiar with the land of our polite neighbors, do you recommend making one or two exceptions and trek farther north for a week or two?
