Sooner or later programming will get oversaturated and people will earn less. Way too many people are into it now. And it's kinda silly, majority just thinks about the movie and not about the part where you might be doing a job you fucking hate for the next 30 years.

SQL is boring as shit IMO but I don't think you need a degree for that. You can learn quite a lot even online.
Like accounting now :p. Do you really think you could find a 9 to 5 job that you find enjoyable though? I genuinely don't think it's possible. You will resent doing anything for so long, especially when forced to.

I'm sure it's easy as hell to learn too. But take this for example:
http://www.bitbootcamp.com/DS_PT.html
You are taught more than just SQL, and if the name of this company is valued (I have no idea), then their certification would have to hold weight, no? Maybe not as much as a conventional computer science degree from a known university, but it would have to at the very least demonstrate an understanding of these languages and concepts in the absence of working experience in that field.

I looked on my internal job board to see if anything was close to you out of curiosity, and the closest office is Prague. Nothing in the Balkans at all.

I already have a BA in Economics and a BS in Finance, but I'm so disillusioned with the finance industry at this point that I don't even see a Master's degree as worth it. To me it seems, in this industry you either need to know someone or have a very good start in terms of getting relevant work experience. I'm talking starting in high school.

Don't you also have an economics degree?
That's even better. You need to flex and flaunt that econ degree.

As much as you may not like Finance, you're in NYC. You need to ride that. It's the way to the goose that lays the golden eggs my friend.

Maybe it's just a "the grass is greener" thing, but data science has got me feeling some type of way. I also see that as a combination of finance and programming, making it harder to automate my source of income and work in a growing field. The thought of having to give presentations makes me anxious as fuck though, but we all have to challenge ourselves sometimes, right?

What can you even REALLY do with a BA in econ though?

If you're into data science then pm me. Would love to chat or meet up to talk to you more about it. Depending on your chops I know several firms that are looking for data scientists
