That's some deep shit right there. Did you recognize yourself @Wittl?
I have a good job and education to earn the money I need, but not too much focused on a big career.
No family.
No religion.
Maybe there‘s some hedonism here, but I‘m not too focused on it, just enjoy and let the moments happen. But I still don’t like the word hedonism, because people often make the connection to egoism.

What about you?

Were you raised in the forest by wolves?
Lol no, I have a great relationship with my parents and my brother. But I think what Dusan meant is for some people it's important to start a family, have children, a dog, cats and a house with a front garden and lawn gnomes.

It's kinda funny/crazy how everyone thinks they are special and how their path is the right one to take. Those who chase careers say how it's horrible to focus on a family, those who want family laugh at those who chase better and better jobs and who spend majority of their time working. Some are quite close to relgion while others don't believe in anything, probably not even in themselves most of the time. Perception of reality is a difficult thing to handle when you're surrounded by different people who view things differently, but it's a good thing, since you get the wider picture and see feel other angle from their point of view. More and more people seem to be focused on hedonism, wanting everything the very same moment, killing the patience itself that creates whole wider problems later on. But so much time looks to be spent rather wasteful.
Ah, the war on normalcy. Everybody is a failure unless they are a global social media starrrr.

But you're right in that there are a lot of polarities out there. Have you ever heard of Polarity Mapping ( http://universityinnovation.org/wiki/Polarity_Mapping )? Interesting concept, as sometimes there are dynamics in a system that cannot be solved for together but rather end up being a balanced tradeoff. And you've touched on a few here.

But you can't write this stuff unless a) you've read more than a few books, and b) you've slowed down long enough to allow time to think bigger thoughts. Well done, sir.

That is genius. Thanks for that.

You guys know any good torrent sites to download complete series? I'm trying to download the Wire.
eztv would do it for me

Do torrents still exist? :shifty:

Was Pirate Bay like the best out there...but it got shut down. :boh:
Aw, man. I know I'm an old fart because I prefer to download than to stream... it's because I can't trust streams in this country.

Majority of "figuring out life" comes down to fun IMO. And it's where everything goes different because fun is defined differently. But it's hard to imagine people connect when their sense of fun is worlds apart. Some might enjoy reading while other enjoys travers. Being an introvert/extrovert obviously makes a big difference, although such things change in a life span so not even there you stick with one route.
I don't think it's fun. Fun is kind of a diversion in a lot of contexts. I think the pursuit of joy is stronger than fun per se, as a general rule. And joy I would argue is more a state of being than a state of doing. Too many people are trying to do their way to desired states ... seeking the answers outside themselves. When the real answers to questions come from within. And are more a state of being than doing.
Do share. :D I still download like a sad relic of the '00s.

-53 in Chicago? That's fucking crazzzzzzzzyyyyyyyyy!
I've lived through that a few times. It's kind of wild. Having your spit freeze before it hits the sidewalk. Your eyelids fusing together when you blink. Breathing in through your nose and feeling like someone jammed icicles up it. Good times, good times...

Anyone here work in the field of data science or data analytics?
I work with them if that helps.

Would you say you have much insight into the role or the field itself?

That's the thing. What I consider wasteful might be the biggest joy of someones life. It's hard to point a finger and say "hey, I'm right, suck it". Then again, there are some borders cause you surely can't go on and kill people, destroy peoples property or molest someone just because you think it's funny or it feels good. There's law to restrain people from doing stupid shit.

Majority of "figuring out life" comes down to fun IMO. And it's where everything goes different because fun is defined differently. It comes down to an individual. Still, objectively looking you can pass a soft-ish judgment if someone is on the right path or not. I mean, what Lapa is doing is totally fucking crazy :D ).
That's why I asked, because before you said "It's kinda funny/crazy how everyone thinks they are special and how their path is the right one to take".

As much as I give in to the temptation to silently "smh" at what other people do/think/say, I know that half the time I am in doubt of what I'm doing myself and am quite capable of fuck ups :D. So I try not to be judgey (actually those people are the most annoying) and as long as what someone does isn't screwing with another person's life, let them be.

Objectively there is no right path, but every human wants peace of mind and there are some paths that obviously lead away from that :D
