The funny bit with relationships is that from a distance we all know what we have to do. Yet when it comes down to it, most of us consistenly fuck up in our own lives.

Seeking advice on a potential relationship with someone you don’t know much is understandable, but seeking advice on a relationship you have been in for a long time is just bizarre. I really do love this place, and this thread is my absolute favorite

Unfortunately I disagree. We all like to believe we are special and so are our relationships. The truth is they're not. Abusive relationships generally all follow the same pattern. And this pattern is usually a lot more obvious for those looking at it from a distance. It makes sense too, because at our core, most of us are very much the same.

If for example you decide to start a relationship with a girl who cheated on her last boyfriend with you, the outcome of that relationship is pretty much set in stone.

I'm not convinced.

Also, in an ideal world people get to pick their gender. I don't mind if people prefer to be a woman or prefer to be a man. Unfortunately that is not what we are able to do now. Currently we can disfigure people and make them (sort of) look like the opposite gender.

No, never. But, and I'll give you that, I am sure outliers exist. What I mean to say is, if someone came to me for advice and asked me if I'd consider a smart move to start such a relationship, I'd say no, because in the overwhelming majority of cases it doesn't end well.

Imo it may be a bit of a stretch to suggest that a child's brain activity can transform that much from it's natural state, as a result of their thoughts and behaviour from the time they "decide" their gender doesn't match their sex. They are still physically the sex they were born with, and would receiving input from the outside world that they are still the sex they are - so there is plenty conflict there that should counter some of their own input. Their brain activity should then resemble somewhere in between

What? There are people whose brain literally allows them to see, while they shouldn't be able to. The brain's ability for transformation is incredible. I'd also add that I don't know just how huge the differences between a male and a female brain are. What defines a male brain? What defines a female brain? Maybe we ought to start there, because I bet the differences are tiny.
