But that's the entire crux of the liberalisation of the labour market: It works perfectly well for the well-educated elite. More flexible working hours & the possibility of e.g. choosing between a raise and more tome-off are a great thing for them.

But a huge bulk of the workforce, with little individual bargaining power in terms of education, skill, experience, desperately needs a strong political/trade union movement to make sure they don't get completely exploited. And that's what's lacking severely atm
It's not that easy. Most lawyers work ridiculously long hours. So do surgeons and dentists.

For most lawyers I would say it's just about money (I'm not going to lie). But in the case of surgeons especially it's also because too many people need (semi-)urgent care. We will only be able to make their hours shorter by technological improvements imo.

And I find it interesting that you look at bargaining power, because there are entire sectors in which their power (which is the fact they can offer labour) might disappear entirely. If that's the case, we will have to find a solution for those people purely because of humanitarian reasons.

If you wait for the waiter does it make you the waiter
It makes you the waitrest.

I got a phone call today regarding a job opening. First call after probably 6-8 months.

I didn't get many details but I heard I'd be working in shifts where I'd work from 14:00 - 22:00 in majority of the cases, while sometimes, sometimes I'd work overnight.

So seriously, when I add commute & stuff that's like 13:00 - 23:00 not be able to do anything. So I have a free morning when I'd sleep. What's the point of life then :boh: WTF
Those hours could be beneficial if it might help you avoid a particularly nasty commute.

It is and it isn't. I mean, we've got plenty of jobs we need to keep society running and improving. But I feel as if there's so much meaningless bullshit people 'have' to do. Surely in our society of the future we will strive towards fewer working hours.
Pretty much 99% of all our jobs are pointless in a greater social context.

Live for what with the extra 30 minutes? I think I'd literally live for weekends (if I even get both days off).

I found it so-so to change shifts weekly when I worked in the sales. And even then I felt gutted when working afternoon, as I came home at like 23:30 which made me go directly into bed.

And now it's just second shift aka 14:00 - 22:00? :sigh: It feels so horrible even when thinking about it. I'll see what happens on the interview, I need more info about the job. But I believe salary would ~500e which is above standard wage here. Still, even such number wouldn't help me move into 'my' place and rent, to try to get on my own feet. Or it would help as it's kinda doable, but I'd have to survive and barely eat (and eat at my parents house), but it would also mean sticking with the job and not quitting in the near future.

I just wish things were normal. I really don't need much to stop complaining. But it seems impossible at this point.

I used to work 3-11:30 and I miss it a lotta times. But that's also because the job was easy as shit. But all you need to worry about now is making sure you get experience and networking. A job's a job.

Because you have fucktards like @Zacheryah and @Bjerknes who believe everyone who doesn't work himself to death is lazy.
Sounds so german. @lgorTudor

They even pity you. Poor man, doesn't work 10 hours a day. Why does he throw away his life like that?

Eager drudges who willingly base their life around work, with no time left for Hobbies, family or whatsoever.

They literally live to work. And if you dare to question their lifestyle, they get angry, call you lazy, and you'll get to hear things like:

"What would i do without my Job?" :touched:

Which is just sad imo. However, I'm pretty confident this mindset is dying with my fathers generation.

Well, I think we are very inefficient. We spend time and resources on the wrong things. Billions go into marketing, into conning people into buying shit they don't need. And lots of people work such meaningless jobs.

But I guess that's how we're wired.

I think I'd spend 90% of the time answering calls. It's not like it's a huge experience boost, especially cause I studied economics. But I do get your point.

Take the job, stay with your parents, save the money and invest it.

You're smart enough to be your own man, I'm sure you can come up with something, D.
Investing is not easy. It's not easy for wealthy, let alone me here.

I've been thinking about it many times. The quality investments would take a lot of money whether that's a production (I looked into fishponds, hazelnut, sponges, goat farm) or something else. From my reseach I came across many protitable jobs, but all require time (read: years) and tons of money. By tons I'm talking huge sums at least from my point of view, cause they'd all be 50-150k euro investments. If this jobs gives 500e/month it's impossible to save for anything serious. It's also quite impossible to take a loan too in the first 2 years, then it would be impossible to return it cause interest rates are way high, plus I'd have no income if I decide to quit and focus on the investment.

When it comes to small budget start-ups, I'm quite clueless, cause I see everything being shut down here.

Investing is easy if you don't have morals. You want to get rich? Buy tranny hookers.

But there's also the question what's going to happen to jobs in the transport sector for example. Self driving cars / trucks are very near and they will be a reality eventually. What are we going to do with all that labour force?
That would be a gross misinterpretation.

Life keeps getting weirder.

After the Danish girl I've been banging whatever moves and talks but a few weeks ago I met this chick I felt a connection with. Nothing wrong there, right? Wrong!

She's getting married to this chick who lives overseas in 3 months. Or is she? I've been leaving a very good impression on her, really working that shit out and now she seems confused. Don't really know what she wants.

Meanwhile I'll be having my fun and who knows, maybe a threesome just became a real possibility :D

Sounds like trouble if you're considering anything more than having fun

I thought that at first, and the usual me would see this as trouble a mile away. But this other me don't give a fuck.

Funnily enough just a minute ago she was staying over but had to leave because her fiance wouldn't stop calling and asking where she was. Living dangerously
