I sometimes wonder if the reason big corporations hold onto people they don't need is that they are bargaining chips when confronted with governments. No government wants to anger a company that employs tens of thousands of people. Without employees though it's a lot easier to force them to comply.

Fuck degrees. They're a means to an ends. The further away you get from your formal education, the less it matters anyway.

I'd be more concerned with the long-term opportunities and what they might lead to -- and if that's something you're interested in.
