The way I see it, music, and art in general, is something that transcends time. I see no reason why we should only listen to music produced in recent years rather than listen to something from the 70s.
Yeah, but for me the problem is that I would like to find something new and good, but these artists are quite rare today.

no way man, so much going on madchester, good hip hop, van fucking halen :D
yes hip hop, some metal like metallica, megadeth, slayer, testament etc, chicago house, detroit techno but there is so much utter garbage in the 80s that has aged horribly and is truly painful to listen to.

Yeah, hip hop definetly had it's golden age. Wtf is happened to todays music, if you're not on drugs or alcohol how can you even bare that stuff they say is music?

see i think true artists just capture their times and experiences, trying to sound like someone from the 60s is disingenuous and betrays art imo bands like the shins, modest mouse, vampire weekend, the xx and beirut produce some pretty good music.

There is plenty of good music out there today, you just have to try harder to find it. I just stopped listening to the radio.

it's not. a lot of the stuff called 'music' today is actually just entertainment. the art is lost really, hence just entertainment for idiots and young teenage girls (probably the same thing)
