No, it's hardly okay. For one thing I feel like I let my mom and lil sister down big time and the second thing is how much I hate myself for not being able to confront him with it tonight, out of the reservation that we're going to beat the shit out of each other.

Your father is probably far too proud to admit when he needs help or support. Not sure if lashing out in response would do more than throw petrol on the fire, so it pays to be chill for a bit as folks are saying and try to be the bigger, more rational person under the circumstances.

Taking the high road and being the big man will not only be needed by your mother and sister, but it should hopefully illuminate the more righteous path for your father too. The guy is probably hurting. People particularly do stupid, asinine, and thoughtless stuff when they're hurt.
