Here's a little story for you, kid.

Back in 1992, when I was 22 years old, and you probably weren't even born yet, I was deeply, madly, in love with a girl. I'm talking so in love, that I was ready to marry her.

Now, her parents did not like me at all.

Not because I was unfaithful (Which I wasn't)

Not because I didn't treat their daughter like a queen (Because I did)

The reason why they didn't like me, and didn't want her daughter to have anything to do with me was because I wasn't Portugese.

Yes, they were prejudiced against me because not only wasn't I Portugese, but because I'm Italian.

I didn't let that stop me though, from trying to get her to sneak out of the house so that we could be together, for whatever little time we could.

She went away to Portugal for the entire summer of 1992, and we wrote each other almost every other day. She had no idea that when she came back, I had purchased an engagement ring and was going to ask her to marry me. Nobody knew about this. Not my parents, my sister, or my friends.

The day that she was supposed to come back, I had 2 dozen red roses sent to the house.

No response.

I tried calling the house.

Line was always busy.

I would try to drive up to the house (Parents didn't know that I knew where she lived. Yes, that is how fucked up everything was.) There was always a relative outside, so I would turn around before they could see me and I would head back home.

A week later, I get a letter, a 3 page letter, postmarked from Lisbon, from my girlfriend explaining to me that her parents were "Making her stay" in Portugal and work for her uncle's hotel, and that she wasn't coming back, and how sorry she was for everything. Mind you, we were together on and off for the better part of 4 years, and I get a fucking letter. Not a phone call, nothing.

So, what does someone like myself do?? Cry about it?? Get Drunk and act foolish?? Nope?? Bang a couple of girls? Well, yes, but that's another story for another time.

Here's what I did, and if there is one thing that I am good at, it is cold hearted revenge.

I went down to the jewelers where I had purchased the engagement ring, and I had the owner and one of his beautiful sales associates help me put this together.

There were 3 photographs taken.

The first photograph was a picture of me handing the ring back to the jeweler

The second was the jeweler refunding my 2000.00 back, in a stack of 20's so that it looked really thick

The third photo was a picture of the jeweler to my right holding up the ring, me in the middle waving the cash, and the beautiful associate grabbing my crotch while the picture was being taken, licking my face in the meantime.

Needless to say, when I sent those three pictures, along with a long ass letter basically calling her every name in the book and wishing death on her family for doing this to us, let's just say that her response a week later was not very good.

After that, I went through seven months of debauchery and hedonism (I had a LOT of catching up to do), and then all of a sudden, I met a girl who in turn became my wife, best friend, and soulmate going on 19 years now.

So the moral of thestory is this........

Your ex is a fucking moron, and you'll be just fine. It hurts now, but like everything else, the pain passes with time.
That's not very nice charlie, you don't know what her situation was......did you ever talk to her again?

Today's the big interview day. I am so tempted to slip in something like "Would you rather be deaf or blind?" or "Genesis: Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins?" Or maybe draw a circle and ask them what they think it means.

Do all of these.

The answer is Phil of course, what a question.
