I thought you were joking but now I don't know what to think. It's different I you say "I support France or France will lose/win, I cheer for them" but how can you say "we" when it comes to national team?
Just a figure of speech, don't worry about it. When Juve fans say "we lost" it doesn't mean the fans participated in the loss.

And if I say "we lost" after Poland lost again it doesn't mean I had anything to do with it.

It was not what I meant and that's wrong. It's not a club, it's a national team. I didn't see anyone here that's not Italian saying "damn we lost" but more like "eh crap, Italy lost". There's nothing wrong following/cheering for some other NT but saying we only goes for your national team.
