It was not what I meant and that's wrong. It's not a club, it's a national team. I didn't see anyone here that's not Italian saying "damn we lost" but more like "eh crap, Italy lost". There's nothing wrong following/cheering for some other NT but saying we only goes for your national team.

Why, what's the difference? Saying "we" about a national team is just as incorrect as saying it about a club.

But we doesn't literally mean "we", it means "this culture that I feel a part of". So if you're a Juve fan you feel it affects you, even if you've never even seen the team in the flesh. And I like the French team so I say the same about them. More than that, I like the country and the culture in many other ways too.

It would be different if you lived there for like 8 years, I love the culture but it doesn't have to do anything with it. I feel the same about Italy probably but I'd never say something like that because I find it wrong and weird.

And what do I know about my own NT? I don't even know half the players on the team. And I don't care because the team sucks, it doesn't interest me. I know the French team much better than I do "my" team. So you know what? The French team is a lot more "my" team than Poland is. I've watched them in countless friendlies, Euros, World Cups. Back when I started Poland could never even qualify for any of them. Recently we've qualified a bunch of times but always lost every match. So what the heck is the point of a team like that?

I wrote it a couple of times in thread in my match review but it was more to a community like "guys, we won". When it comes to Juve I say "crap, Juve lost" and I were Italian I'd of course go with "we lost", but when it comes to NT I say "great, WE won". How the hell is it normal if you say we in such case...

I used to think like that too. Not because I thought it was convincing, just because that's what people seemed to do and what seemed to be "right". Then I realized there was no particular reason why it should be like that.
