Three officers got shot and killed last week here in Oakland because of a routine traffic stop.

I know what you're saying, but you're in a pretty damn comfortable and safe position behind a computer screen to jump to conclusions. If I was a cop, I'd probably shoot a lot more people, let alone pull a gun on them. (Especially if the guy is getting out of his car, which every retard knows you don't do around a cop without him asking you to for safety reasons.)
who gets out of the car when they re pulled over? it all sounds fishy though texas cops definitely need a "rodney king" lots of their practices are fishy
All bad cops should be rooted out and humiliated. But seriously -- busting a cop's chops based on a rip-and-read news article because he pulls a gun in a dangerous situation is pretty damn convenient because your life or death isn't at stake.
I don't think the officer did anything wrong other than acting like a dickhead. Though Moats probably should have started with the yes sir, no sir from the beginning instead running out of his vehicle and yelling. I almost got a gun pulled on me a couple months ago for reaching for my wallet as the officer was coming up to the car. He told me just don't do anything until the officer tells you. Which makes sense. Also is it strange that the hospital doesn't send a rep out until 10 minutes into the stop?

That is weird what you have there. You're a free man until the cops decide to pull you over. Once that happens you're now a robot who does nothing without being told to do it.

Sure you're a free man. But you get pulled over because of a reason. In my case I forgot to place my registration tags on the rear of my vehicle. Therefore I was driving an illegal vehicle on the street. The officer doesn't know me, he doesn't know what I'm capable of, only that I'm reaching behind me to pull out something he can't see. Think about if from his perspective. The guy was rightfully freaked.

Instead of confronting the officer and exerting my "freedom" I was all yes sir, no sir, sorry for freaking you out sir and once he cleared me of warrants he even helped me put the tags on my car and I didn't get a ticket. I even saw the officer in a gas station a week later and he remembered me and made a "quick draw McGraw" joke. Cops for the most part are good guys that do a difficult job, showing a bit of courtesy and respect can go a long way instead of just assuming the guy who pulled you over is a black person beater and treating him like shit.

In the Moats case, he did run the red light and instead of attempting to ignore the police officer (if you watch the video, you get a better understanding than just reading the article) and run into the hospital he should have calmly explained the situation to the officer and asked if his family could be excused, after all they didn't run the red light. The family in turn could have sent a hospital representative out to confirm the story. Instead of a 15 minute debacle of confusion you have a 5-6 minute delay and everyone is happy.

I'm not saying we should cater to the every whim of the police, but things like not jumping out of the car and yelling at the police officer at a stop are pretty common sense.

no it's precedence the issue, plus they are figures of authority who have access to some orders
And the fact that when you get pulled over, in most instances, it's because you've committed some sort of crime, ie. speeding, failure to stop, reckless driving, eratic driving, etc. Not that some police don't abuse their power, but the majority don't.

One of swag's laws of humanity is that in 80%+ of he-said/she-said cases, both parties are being dickheads to at least some degree.

So I know Talk Like A Pirate Day is still 6 months off. But I just bought myself my first ever bottle of rye (Sazerac).

I feel like a friggin' North American pirate. :eyepatch:

YARRRRGH!
