In all of the cases that I've heard something about these guys the one thing they have in common is being social outcasts, misfits, rejected by their community in certain some ways. Ie. not getting what they want = politics. Seeking to terrorize? Indisputably.

I actually think there's a lot in common between teenagers who shoot up their schools and suicide bombers that shoot up hotel guests or blow up train stations.

The level of structured ideology behind them are very different. But the primal motivators seem very much the same.

That's correct. Most kids, not all, who end up shooting up schools also want to be recognized in some way. Like Columbine for example. Those guys thought that they would be hugely infamous after the deed and they were right. People eat that shit up and end up turning the shooters into martyrs while everyone forgets the victims.

If they would put that effort into robbing banks or something they might become equally famous and not kill so many people.
