I am a big Mozart fan due to being exposed to the music a lot as a kid, but in my older age I like a lot of Satie, Saint-Saëns and Shostakovich Or anything with a nice clarinet line.

I'm mostly classicist. Brahms, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky. But I like most of what came between Bach and say Shostakovich (or Rahmaninoff to be more conservative), not so much after that.

I should really listen to more Brahms, for some reason he's been completely overlooked in my collection. I do love Beethoven and Tchaikovsky as well, though I probably only know a lot of the more mainstream stuff. Do you play an instrument yourself?

I've always had an affinity towards classical music, but never got around exploring it. I recently heard Dies Irae by Verdi, and I lived it. That led me to download a compilation of some classical music. The skill and talent involved is astonishing.

My dad was obsessed with classical and opera, so he made me listen to all sorts of things. It is quite fun, though I was always sad I never really worked hard at playing anything.
Have you seen Bill Bailey's Remarkable Guide to the Orchestra? It's quite fun
Did you enjoy it? I did piano as a kid, but found most of my teachers really irritating so I stopped. I wish I hadn't. Now I dabble with the clarinet, as I decided one day it would be fun to teach myself to play. I can do Strangers in the Night, Greensleeves and Mozart's clarinet concerto in A major k. 622. That's about it
