I've seen Japanese people wear the masks. In frickin Utrecht. Once you start it's hard to give up I guess.
Actually, from what I heard from a friend who lives in Japan, they wear masks to not inconvenience others, not to protect themselves. If they are a slight cold or such, wear it to keep it away from others apparently (their culture of courtesy and politeness is extreme). He got it from ze direct of sources hehe, because, Japan isnt that polluted. China is a whole another story...

Fair enough, I've heard that one myself. That on public transportation you don't want to bother people with your facial expression. It sounds kinda weird but okay. But I've seen people ride bikes wearing them, that's not public transport. And it's not an activity where you sit with other people and stare at them. So what's the point then?

Maybe I haven't known enough Japanese people to figure it out. Actually, I've never known a single one in person.

As for the sitting, dear god do I wish more people would have the decency not to contaminate bathrooms.

Those masks won't save them anymore. They need a machine to purify the air. So basically I'm telling them to buy BL4 biohazard suits before 2025.
Assuming any of the Chinese will be able to afford them by 2025:

Gotta beat George H.W. Bush, who aims for the host's lap when blowing chunks.

Even without the cloud it is not visable.
Buddy, I would ask for your $15 million back. Sure, those Russians can send up civilians on Soyuz capsules, but they can't hire a decent window-washer to save their lives.

Even with clean windows, you can't see the Great wall of China from space.
