Hey, I visit India and Asif and Dheeraj think I'm actually being culturally respectful if I happen to wear a kurta while there. But these days others will tell you it's "cultural appropriation" and a cultural insult coming from a white dude.

People are too much on edge looking for things to be offended about.

As long as it is not considered disrespectful to wear your normal clothes instead of a kurta, I'd wear those though. I agree that people are too much into looking for things to be offended about, but imo wearing a kurta would be going to ridiculous lengths to show your 'respect'. In the process it might even make you look ignorant or like a dick.

As long as you don't look like the reverse of this:

They did a skit where they go out "for an English", and one of the characters asks the waiter for "the blandest thing on the menu" :D

Stella and Asahi ain't familiar to me, Peroni is pretty shite (yea, I guess it really ain't that fancy whatsoever). :boh:
Stella is one of the widely available and cheap beers in Belgium, but in the States I've seen it marketed as some sort of fine, exotic beer (it really isn't, it's as basic as can be). Peroni.. Well, what do you expect from Italian beer?

Stella's nickname in the UK is 'wife beater', so you can imagine how exotic it is considered here. It's had a mini renaissance, it has to be said. Even the shit Belgian lager is better than most of the other Euro and American lagers.

I don't really like lagers anyway. And when I do drink them I prefer them to be really cold, the way Brazilians drink their beer - which is apparently not the way you're supposed to drink them, but fuck it. I will almost always order stuff like Duvel or trappist beers (mostly Orval or Rochefort in that case). I can see why that might be considered a sort of specialty in other countries, but in Belgium you can get these beers in every bar so it's not like it's fancy or anything.

Stella was fancy for a minute in the early 2000s, but now it ain't even a thought.

Dude, every time a woman perms her hair, gets lip injections, or pads her ass, that's cultural appropriation.

The whole concept is pretty redic.
