Sad to say I don't have a dream job either hence why I ended up in business. It's tough figuring out what you want to do sometimes. I am jelly of those who have it all figured out.
I have one, but I can't afford all the education it would take for me to be able to do it. Maybe someday. For now, at least I can use the fact that I have a degree to help with job prospects in general, even if they aren't in my field.

To be fair, I understand your point. I'm a mod on another forum and there's a very thin line between being too lenient and having people accuse you of being dictatorial. Our admin decided to go the stricter route and because of that we've lost several regular contributors who didn't agree with the policies. ...
I appreciate the sympathy, even though that's not really what I was going for. The issue is more about mod-on-mod action rather than mod-on-poster action. Yeah, I know that sounds like a porno, but...

There are times where you need to rock the boat. There are other times where you sense the risks aren't worth it. A beat cop might encounter a bunch of people drinking in public, where playing to the letter of the law and busting each and every last one of them would have a net negative effect to the overall public safety than -- say instead -- if they took a more lenient approach and issued a few "I'm watching you" warnings.

The correctness of a few public drinking citations isn't worth getting a mob riled up where they might draw knives and guns.

I became a mod by blowing all the other mods.

Realistically, the reason Greg doesn't lift a hand is because a bad day now is nothing compared to how I used to be. Greg remembers when I used to set fires in this place. I'm so much more mature now, and I'm not kidding.
That is true.

In a way, I could describe's Burke's original indoctrination to mod-dom as an owner's decision to give the outlaw a badge as a means of pacification.

Guys how did you figure out what you wanted to study in college?
I graduated. :p

Still feeling the sting on the back of my hand, @swag

My problem is my dream job is so far fetched that I will end up making it only a hobby after I've figured out my career.

I know I am going to minor in Italian for sure but I don't want to take random classes because in my opinion I feel like it will be a waste oftime. I have a feeling I am just going to end up majoring in business because I know I'll be able to get a job.

Exactly how I feel.

The price of education...Meh! I realllly want to do my doctorate but the cost is way too steep. Even though my darling Hoori gave me some tips on how to get a scholarship in the US, I am not sure I can really leave here right now. Have you thought about trying for a scholarship?

I've looked into it, but I haven't found one I qualify for.

I agree with Alc. And if you find that you absolutely hate something, drop it!

It does seem annoying but in my experience most people who have their college plans completely figured out at 20 are the ones who pick completely useless majors and will be back in school before 30

I think at my age I should have it figured out by now though. But with my field at least I have the option to open my own business which is my goal eventually, I just have no idea what. Any suggestions anyone?

academic tutoring /college prep in a wealthy area was always my personal small business idea. if you find the right area people will pay insane money to get their kids into college

I have a friend who does private SAT/ ACT tutoring and he makes really good money doing that

Something I had thought of was majoring in communications but I don't know.
Go for it. The worst you can do is hate it. And as I said, just drop it if you find it's not your thing.

My husband is going to major in hospitality because he's in a similar situation, he doesn't quite know what he wants to do. But it's a broad field and it's easy enough to find work in a variety of environments.

Definitely, if you get lucky. I've personally had enough of catering to rich entitled people though. :D

How does one get their foot in the door in becoming a coach anyway? Seems like something you would have to "know people" or already have some sort of reputation to be able to do.
